I find this interesting. We have been given a very ambiguous comment from a newspaper, with no reference to a statement from a specific source. The usual people who have an axe to grind with the club are certain that it is BFC's at fault, not the player and / or his agent.
I'm sure they don't think that, and I think you must be joking. EDIT: Sorry, I meant to respond to the comment to which you responded.
100% will have been Koroma or his agent that's tried to alter the deal. Why on earth would the Club do that?! It makes no sense for them to. It does make more sense that the player and his agent would try to eek more money out of the club at the 11th hour, hoping that the Club would agree as they've already gone through the process of a medical and the media stuff. Edit - what this does bring into focus is how we conduct transfers. Why are we doing media before a player has even signed?? Surely you'd do the medical, sign them, then interview them? We seem to be wanting to put the cart before the horse (if that's true). Get their John Hancock on that paper then take all the little pictures you like ffs!
As I said earlier in the thread, he's shít anyway. Not enough detail to say what has occurred, but surely it's from the player's side that the last minute change has come? I can't think why or what the club would try to change at the 11th hour after all that time spent on the deal. Greed player/agent would be my guess.
Journalist Adam Oxley wrote on X: “For those asking, I was told the attempt to change the deal was from the player’s side. no details on what the changes were but seems it wasn't the club this time
Quote from Adam Oxley on Twitter about Koroma deal falling through: For those asking, I was told the attempt to change the deal was from the player’s side. My understanding is that Barnsley were happy with the terms agreed, which is why the medical and media interviews took place.
Would love for his media to somehow leak....I would find it funny listening to him saying how he's glad to sign for us etc
Good to hear. And now that has come out, I'm happy to stand behind the club on this. Obviously most of us (probably 'cos we have previous on this sort of thing) felt it may have been the club attempting to move the goalposts. So it turns out it wasn't. Therefore, I whole heartedly stand by the club on this decision. Well done chaps. Stand your ground on what was already agreed. Move on, and use those funds towards someone who won't piss us around
