I’d agree, however, if this is correct, then what Koroma and/or his agent did/demanded after the deal was agreed is wrong. Glad the club snubbed him in the end

Probably. But there are ways of doing things. Agreeing terms knowing that you're going to try and ransom the Club later is absolutely disgusting behaviour.

Everyone wants the best deal for themselves irrespective of the occupation. How you go about acquiring that deal is a matter of professionalism and morals imo.

Fair enough. Seems as though he was banking on the club not wanting to have wasted time and resources getting everything together, and backing down for a better deal. I'd have liked him here, but not if he's tried to hold the club to ransom. Next target, please.

I don’t disagree. But morality long left football.

It’s all about paying the most and getting the signature. I suspect he’d agreed the deal, we’d let him go without signing and someone else has dangled the carrot of more money. I doubt there are many players who’d do any different in this day and age sadly.

I’m not sure we did snub him. It sounds like we kept trying rather than tell him to do one.

If what has been said is true, I'm very happy he isn't joining. Next.

Yeah in fairness Frog, I know its easy to have a go at the club, and I admit I do it regularly myself.
But it sounds like they did everything right here and everything they could, to make this deal work.
So if its all down to Koroma and his agent being unprofessional and greedy, then I say f*k him!.

All in all I think it’s for the best that this deal broke down. Clearly didn’t want to join us really so all the best to him at orient hopefully they have spaffed a load of their budget on him to get a player that rarely turns up according to Huddersfield fans

There's are dozens of different reasons why deals fall down. But with our deals there is one common denominator..
A person who's been a chancer at best.

Even though this time everyone (media) is reporting it was nothing to do with the club?

In fairness it only fell through because he never signed a contract which IF rumours are true was because the DoF wasn’t available.
We probably have dodged a bullet in this case but the point is valid.

I’m pretty sure 99% of players are motivated by money mate, especially at this level where a 10/15 year career won’t set you for life

When they retire though they are allowed to get another job for 30 or so years until pension age.

It seems too many Football players see it as the only chance to make money.

If we only signed players who want to play for Barnsley, rather than for the wage we offer in return for the services of that player, then our current squad would consist of Marc Roberts. And that would still be highly dependant on us offering a wage that Marc felt was adequate.

While I agree it’s a short career, the average wage for a L1 footballer is £7000 p/w equating to £364,000 p/a before tax, roughly £204,000 post tax. I’m sure if I had the next ten years of my life, as a 27 year old, earning £200k per year I’d be able to set myself up for life.

Agree ,but sometimes some of them get so bored so they turn to gambling.
Wish I had the same problem, ( boredom) wouldn't end up in the bookies that's for sure.
