It's more like if you noticed your work had posted a picture of the new guy's car parked in your spot with him looking pleased as punch next to his car. They then offer free posters of said photo to anyone who wants one for a limited time.
Good golly, there's never a dull moment at Oakwell is there? I'm hoping the eagerness of some to support Scowen's tweet isn't because they want to show their disapproval of the club having let the two George's go. That's the thing about such a strong togetherness. Anything that threatens to unravel it can cause a volatile reaction.
Id be ****ing fuming if someone else had been given my number. What an absolute balls up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
He certainly shouldn't have made that comment publicly. I do understand why he's upset about it though. Should he have been consulted I'm sure he would have been happy to forfeit the number, because it's not important, but he must be feeling like a second string recently. He's been a great footballer for us, but the past several months he's been kept out of the squad by a bloke on loan, who, fair to Brownhill, played very well but ultimately signed for a different club. His dad had been criticising the lineups every week on Twitter. It took an injury crisis at full back for him to get a chance in the team again, and he certainly played well completely out of position. Now we've re-signed one of our main players and it must feel like he's just taken priority, taking Josh's number when the position Hammill plays isn't even the typical #7 role. That being said, Twitter is certainly not the place for him to air those concerns.
Spot on analogy. It might seem pedantic to many, but it's a tad disrespectful to take a player's shirt number and give it to a team mate without even mentioning it. Squad numbers are often important to footballers.
and his first reaction was to bairn about it publicly on twitter? he's even included the official BFC twitter name. pi$$ poor josh
Surprised to see so many criticising Scowen & not the club. It's clearly the clubs fault, you don't just switch players numbers without speaking to them first, you can bet his families got plenty of shirts with that number on the back. But it's just common courtesy, I've heard it plenty of times where players have thanked other players for allowing them to take a certain squad number. Scowen's rightfully pissed off
He's took it pretty well looking at what he's actually said. Id be ****ing foaming. What the **** are the club playing at. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You're DonnyTyke, though, I'd expect you would be foaming if someone accidentally used your mug at work.
So, in summary: a) club should have let him know in person before he saw it on Twitter, and b) he shouldn't have gone on Twitter to bairn about it. Move on, 'nowt else to see here....
Club was daft for not telling Scowen first, Scowen was daft for getting the monk on on social media and other players were daft for retweeting and liking scowen's comments. In conclusion, everyone's been a bit daft. Doubt it's going to have any serious repercussions.
I'm on holiday at min so not really kept up, but have next season's squad numbers already been announced ? Seems a bit strange to announce the squad numbers when we have only signed 1 or 2. Sent from my HTC Desire 620 using Tapatalk
Hammill signed, posed with a number 7 shirt, and club are offering free shirt printing with his name and squad number.
BFC have just tied down the perceived 'star' attraction, Adam Hammill. He's obviously asked for the number seven shirt. They've given it to him. Standard stuff before a new season begins. And so to maximise the financial rewards, they've made it public, advertising 'free' Hammill lettering and the number seven on any new shirt bought before Sunday. Absolutely nothing wrong with any of that. Except they forgot to let Josh know. Own goal by BFC. Whether Josh was right to use social media to express his disgust, that's up for debate. But Josh's family/friends attacking the club doesn't sit well with me. This should have been a day to celebrate, with Hecky's appointment. But this following on from the release of Williams has really overshadowed that. Incredible bit of M'voto-esque behaviour by those in charge at Oakwell.
If I posted on social media my displeasure at my company it would not only be unprofessional no matter how "right" I was, it would almost certainly be in breach of my contract and I'd face disciplinary precedings Have the club messed up? Maybe I don't know. I thought squad numbers could change each year. However the problem is Scowen moaning about it in public, and his team mates "liking" and "retweeting" negative comments about the club that pay their wages.
