That assist there was absolutely superb. He's literally won Real Madrid their last 2 games as well.

For a young lad he makes it look so easy he's pure quality.
Southgates got some right players to choose from.

The delicate weight of the pass knowing where his captain would be, was sublime.

Has to be played centrally, to play him anywhere else is frankly ridiculous.

Rice/Bellingham/Foden/Saka isn't a bad midfield for the next ten years is it.

seems a really nice switched on kid to me. Modest but confident. He’s really got the world at his feet. He looks like he can do anything he wants to do.

While I've not been one to criticise Southgate in the way that many have, you'd have to conclude that if he fails to win a major tournament with that midfield, he's done something very wrong indeed.

Comes across as anything but, just like most of the current England side. The vast majority of them seem extremely likeable, a far cry from Rooney, Ferdinand, Terry and co.

Yes although it could be argued that Sven had a better 11 at his disposal - it’s a close run thing. If we had a better centre half to partner Stones then perhaps the current crop is better. Maguire gets a lot of unfair stick and plays well with Stones but he is the definite weakness in an otherwise world class first 11 (perhaps Jordan Pickford is another who isn’t quite at the levels the others are)

I think Ramsdale should be the starter with Pickford sub. The quality of Ramsdale’s passing is world class. Gives him the edge.

Never heard him interviewed or even speak and, to be honest, don't really care to. I've watched him play football and he's simply brilliant.

Sven's first XI vs the current lot is close, but the current strength in depth is ridiculous. No Grealish, Mount or Stones tonight. And a lot of the current players are very young. Having said that, Walker and Trippier are both closer to the ends of their careers than the beginning, so it'll be interesting to see who'll replace them long-term. Not quite sure what Kalvin Phillips brings to the party though.

I see that. Looks like he’s barely trying when he’s running but then then you’ll see an opposition player sprinting like mad to keep up with him

Bright, articulate, very modest. An absolute credit to himself and those involved in his development.

Agree, but we often forget you've got to be both good and lucky to win summat. We've at last got the first bit, hope for the second.
