The thing i never understood is it comes out in the car park meaning everyone will have to cross the road under the flyover with all the bits to get to Bala street/road
They will but in the plans for the bridge they said that the next stage is to reconfigure things to create safer passages for fans. I honestly expect the Dutch roundabout to somehow go there but I'm not sure how
It’s not a busy enough to junction and there isn’t enough space. They’re also redoing all the curb lines and adding a pedestrian crossing at that side as part of the bridge work so I doubt they’d do that to replace it with a roundabout. I honestly think the Dutch roundabout will be Townend or, potentially, Alhambra roundabout if they plan to remove the subway.
I am sure I heard it said that Gala wouldn't sell part of their land for the bridge to end there (as it would make more sense on that side of the road). EDIT : Though looking at that image, that wouldn't be possible as the bridge would probably need to be higher for traffic underneath it.
A year and a half sounds about right. I'd imagine fabrication will kick off first, working adjacent to a railway will have it's own restrictions, vast ground works required, utility diversions and enabling works. That's before they start building the actual structure.
A lot of delays are around funding. I have been trying to get Transport For Wales to give me the go ahead for something for nearly 2 years that’s pretty essential to Welsh railways and they still can’t sort it.
Weren't utility diversions what caused the long delay in the first place? Yorkshire Water and others messing about for months on end?
If you knew anything about local government funding then you’d see the humour in that from a different point of view.
