Was an established player for a few yrs. Spinner I believe. Went to Somerset for a year or so after Yorkshire.
Neil Ardron , presuming it's the same onelived at the top of Welland Crescent or concrete canyon as it was better known. , Think his brother is called David Ian Swallow did indeed play for Yorkshire as a bowler. Family steeped in Elsecar cricket history with Geoff his dad and Graeme his brother both giving great service to the Armroyd Lane club
You are correct mate. Went to their house many times. It was the first house I remember in concrete canyon that was refurbed so to speak. The exterior having house bricks covering the building. Guessing Phil had it done not long after he bought the property. After council house purchasing, was introduced. Hope you are well btw. Is your bro still around and still a Rovrum fan. I moved over to Mapplewell. So don't see lots of my old mates. Even them from Elsecar lol.
Hanging in there mate. Missis at the aggressive stage of dementia, thankfully only verbally at the moment. Had some interesting days to say the least. Brother has cut down on his Rotherham watching after suffering a cardiac arrest a couple of years ago. Luckily he was in hospital at the time having collapsed at home in Wombwell. Took em 4 goes to get him back the lazy sod I'm fine touch wood but just get my Reds fix on here and through the matchday programme. As and when the missis has to go in a care home hoping to get to a few games down south but care homes start from £1500 a week down here and I have too much savings to get financial help for now Life's never simple is it. Remember Neil sadly being involved in a car crash that killed his mate and a good footballer Phil Harling who lived in Elsecar. Seem to remember it was at High Green Crossroads Anyway after all that gloom hope you're keeping well Talking of Jump I worked at British Tissues at Oughtibridge for 10 years from 1973 onwards and there were a few Jumpers worked there including Phyllis and Sarah Mott. The guys from Sheffield said they'd never heard women swear so much till they met those 2. Phyllis especially was certainly a character but a great laugh
We are alright at this end thanks. You are correct re the accident. Really tragic. Sorry to hear of your issues. I used to drop on your brother. ( David wasn't it) Horseshoe now and again. I seem to remember he was a big Barnsley fan at one time. I think I remember how that came about. (A fall out with the club possibly). Take care mate.
I'm David or Dave , my brother is John. Still frequents the Horseshoe along with Millie the dog. Seem to think Fudge still goes in there too. My brother got married in the Lake District , just him and Karen his wife due to Covid restrictions
