Well it was a way in for me - 3 years doing absolutely ***** shifts at BMBC then went to London for 3 years, still shifts but much better paid, Asda on shift and then finally into support and now development

 

I worked there for about 9 months in 1983. Moved back from College in Leicester after working in Nuneaton for a couple of years. Moved into a flat above a butchers in Royston, near a mini roundabout.
It was Midland Bank then and I was a contractor on a big Burroughs (now defunct) conversion.

 

RE: still quite a lot of tapes or cartridges.

I used to work there part time, fridays, saturdays and sundays loading those cartridges into the silo, removing the old ones and packing them off to bootle. Boring job, but on Saturdays and Sundays inbetween loads I could just wander round the building having a nosey (subject to security restrictions of course).
