RE: Enlighten me... Done a cracking job at Rotherham. Over turned a points deduction last season to comfortably finish mid-table. Would have been in the play-offs if they started on 0 points. Turned them into promotion candidates and started this season pretty well. Fair enough he's only managed at League 2 level but everyone's got to start somewhere and what's to say he won't do a decent job here?
Very disappointing The jump will be huge. We have no scouting network at the club and Robins has worked in League Two - you'd have to assume that there will be no new signings for a while (and yes, I mean loan ones).
You're absolutely correct Every managerial appointment is a gamble to some degree, but you'd hope to ,mitigate the risks in our case by trying for someone who has managed with a degree of relative success at this level - that means approaching other Championship clubs or someone like Paul Jewell, but who knows about his desire to return to management ? I hear bad reports from Derby supporters about him. But that said, he's done it at this level before.
Mark robins does sound knowledgable and reasoned when I've heard his interviews but he'd be stepping into a job where the instant demands and pressure would be much greater than at Rotherham currently.

I give you mr Simon Davey Given the job after playing robbie williams in midfield and losing embarrassingly against our local rivals. He looked, sounded and smelled very **** and look what happened.
Good. We're acting like a proper football club, giving manager's a chance who have done well at lower leagues and not keeping the same old **** in a job just because they've worked at this level before. F.ck 'em. He needs 3 years minimum mind. No matter what he needs the same backing as Davey.
Aye, look what happened 3 more seasons in the championship and a trip to Wembley in the FA cup semi-final.
Wembley and 3 years in the Championship will look very appealing when we're taken down to the level from which we pluck our next hopeful. You dont like the sound of your own music, thats what it is cocker.
Can we put a positive spin on this? We have a list of people who have applied. We also have a list of people who we think could do a decent job but didn't apply. Now we want to interview them to see who impresses most. Somewhere on one of these lists is Robins. We have to make an official approach before we can speak to them. Who knows who else we have in mind, and who else who have approached to speak to. Its being pro-active.
Maybe.

RE: You're absolutely correct No new managers would ever get appointed if you only wanted 'experience at this level'. How do you get that experience unless someone gives you a chance in the first place. How many managers currently managing teams above us in this league took that step up? Quite a few, I'll start you off with Gary Johnson and Ian Holloway who both started out at lower/non-league clubs and made that step up.
I have no idea if Mark Robins will make a good manager at BFC or not But if that's the way the board want to go he'll get my backing.
RE: You're absolutely correct I'm on about the situation we find ourselves in - ie 1 point from 5 games and not looking likely to get any more soon. To ask a novice at Championship level to come in, basically work with the existing squad and turn things round before Christmas otherwise we are cut adrift is a massive task.
Was us not finishing inside the bottom 3 an achievement? Was our aim to just about survive? Thats not the aim that patrick cryne set out when he pumped millions into the club. Simon Davey failed to meet the objectives set to him by the board of directors last season and the season before and presumably this season too. Yes look what happened, he failed. Miserably
