Just looked at weather prospects As gloomy as LDRed's outlook.
Ne'er mind. On both counts.
Reight, feather.

Take the redundo. Anyone ever offers me redundo......6 months of lie in's and quality time with the family ...I think fantastic. Anyway you never know you might pick up something quickly and have cash in the bank. Just as good. When most people cut they get rid of the workshy first. Many employers won't take on those made redundant for that reason. So if you volunteer for redundancy you have a good story to tell... you volunteered to take the money and spend time with your family cos you're good enough to get another job. - They might even offer you a better deal if you volunteer. It's all down to how much they will pay I suppose, but if you're ex yorkshire water i suppose you will have a decent scheme still in place from those days. Really, having been made redundant once (due to relocation) and volunteered twice I really wouldn't look on it as a bad thing. Imagine having got to the end of 30 years service with yorkshire water and NOT taking that redundancy package. Now that would be criminal.
Only happened to me once ...took 2 months off with the redundancy money, July & August, before starting back very much refreshed. Best thing that's happened to me - although the job market was different then. Best of luck to you anyway.
Same with me Finished July 5th with about a years salary, started another job in September. But that was in 2001, far more jobs around then.
Happened to me twice First one - walked straight into a new job 2 weeks later - that worked really well Second one took a lot longer - I still dont earn what I did then but the job I have now is much more enjoyable .... most of the time What I am trying to say is its really **** when it happens but its not the worst thing that can happen just can feel like it at the time
8 years ago, redundant week off, 2 phone calls, week on holiday then started new job with more money wrong time of the water procurement cycle this time. No doubt there will be plenty of work next spring / summer if the worst happens. I'll have to turn into a tax avoiding, dirty rotten contractor to make up for lost earnings.
Hopefully, you'd be back at your desk as a "contractor" the next day - getting a few extra quid (and probably much better thought of). They were issuing threats of a 25% pay cut at my place a few months ago - nothing was said to any of our sub-contractors though.... Good luck Pal...
