At the end of the day, Ismael Mowatt and Dike are all opponents now just as every other non-Barnsley people are. The main thing is for them to lose when they play the reds. Unlikely I know....
Agreed for Mowatt & DD. Mowatt gave us everything he could & deserved his step up. Dike is just a raw kid - he'd only have been our player if we'd gone up, and even then bigger clubs were being linked. Came and gave us the adrenalin shot we needed to get over the playoff line. But Val? No, not for me. Took the first big wad of cash waved under his nose. From a club where he could have become a legend, to one where the levels of expectation, & some might say entitlement, will likely see him gone by season's end.
Part of that was our board and the daft £2m release clause they put in. Wasn’t worth the money in the end for them was it.
I respect your opinion but he was under contract & the wad of cash what took him to West Brom was not aimed at Val it was the £2 million buy out clause the board gratefully dragged in, they could have kept him & try to kick on but they didn"t & the rest as they say is history .
Not sure why you would compare Rimmo, he was loved by everyone & was a legend, our wonderful owners made sure that could never happen with Val , thay took the 20 pieces of silver .
Because Rimmo loved Barnsley FC, if you want to throw the L word about then so be it. Big val didn't & I wouldn't throw the L word about so loosely. I respect your view but he was here for one season & cast us aside. He had a job to do & a job job to finish, he used us as stepping stone, I wish the bloke no harm but I'm bitterly disappointed in him.
We will have to agree to disagree because I think it was the owners who cashed in not Val , remember he was under contract but the owners had 2 million reasons to move him on but we do agree on Rimmo , a legend loved by all !
He would, but last season was his one shot. Everyone knows that with our board that was 100% going to be the high point of his Barnsley career. Only an idiot would have stayed.
