yeah I was (how gay is that smiley)
I was just wondering if you could maybe answer this question seen as you work for one of the big ISPs. If I live quite a distance from my exchange (if? i do lol) and keep getting told online that I live too far away for high speed broadband and can only recieve 512kb then is that basically it? Or would it normally be possible to sign up for the 1 meg package anyway and hope that I recieve something like 7 or 800kb?
Houses less than 100 metres away can get the full speed access yet we can only get the lower 512kb and I was hoping that because the extra distance is so little that it would mean that if we signed up for a faster account then although we wouldnt get the full speed we might still get faster than the current 512kb.
Sorry for the rather random question, its been bugging me for a while.
ta

reight... ...you would only be able to sign up to the maximum that your line would allow. go to this site http://www.samknows.com/broadband/checker2.php?p=summary and type in your telephone then select bt adsl on the left and it will tell you the maximum speed that you can get on your line. hope that helps
bugger, 512kb it is then I live 4.75km from the exchange. ITs a shame that BT didnt wire us into the exchange thats less than 2km from our house isnt it.
Thanks for the advice

Well done on getting your first job. I have to confess that a small part of me is saying "Oh Christ, another person to add to the sodding traffic jam on my way to work!"
