Fair enough, mate But I'm sticking to my views & I'm not going to give over the top criticism of any player based on the showing in one reserve match.
Re: Fair enough, mate Absolutely. Felt the need to balance things up with my opinion on RNL who I thought played well, particularly when he played central later in the game. Also, i've seen more praise for the number 8 (Wato) in another thread where it was said that he rarely gave the ball away and faded in the 2nd half. He looked to have good positional sense to me but gave the ball away time and again, prior to being subbed for Abbott early in the 2nd who looked a good player.
Re: Fair enough, mate I really rate Reuben, but felt his contribution was disappointing. The free kick he took for the winning goal was excellent, but the one from practically the same position earlier in the game was poor. I was enthusiastic with regards to seeing two of my favourite players (RNL & Paul Digby), who should be looking to cement their place in the first team, making a real impact. Unfortunately, in my opinion, neither did. The two I offered encouragement of, Dibble & Wato, are nowhere near as experienced as my favourites and aren't anywhere close the first team, so I won't be as critical of them. I wouldn't expect either to make the correct decision every time, making mistakes will be a given, but both showed promise. Normally, I'm accused of extolling the virtues of my favourites, over egging what they've done if you will, beyond their actual contribution. It's also worth pointing out that this was just one reserve game and, because of this, it's ludicrous to go over the top with either praise or criticism. The next fixture could see both Reuben & Paul look absolute shoe ins for the first team.
I went to watch the reserves (apparently the new fad is to call them Under 21 Development teams) for the first time in years last night, mate, in a cup match against Leeds United. We won an entertaining game 4-3. Oh, and barnsley66 fell in lust with the female referee.
