because the carriageway is the piece of road without a divider. the central reservation splits a cariiageway in to and it becomes a dual carriageway. The A1 is a dual carriageway even though it has three lanes.
no a dual carriageway has 2 lanes at each side, hence the word 'dual'? A reservation has nothing to do with it!
from wikipedia dual carriageway or divided highway is a road or highway in which the two directions of traffic are separated by a central barrier or strip of land, known as a central reservation or median Confusion While most drivers are clear about what a motorway is, some are confused about the definition of a dual carriageway. For a road to be classed as a dual carriageway, the two directions of traffic flow must be physically separated by a central reservation.[1] A road where the two directions of flow are separated only by lines painted on the road surface is a single carriageway, regardless of the number of traffic lanes that may be available to the traffic in each direction. So a road with three or four lanes is not a dual carriageway if there is no central reservation.
on my first lesson, I started dogging with the instructor whilst doing a cool 120mph the wrong way down a slip road. have that.
I did summat like that took me to industrial estate between Thurnscoe/Goldthorpe, on drive back to Darfield there's 60 roads what he took me on tbh was ok with that it was the roundabouts I struggled with considering I had fairly poor clutch control
RE: from wikipedia I stand corrected and I apologise sincerely. It serves me right for being argumentative. BUT I do think the definition is daft. Soz Super.
