Just heard 1 of these 4 transfers haven't agreed terms.

Would you say that Hecky was "bashing the club' when he said more than once, that we have lost out to L1 teams for players this pre-season...

 

Was Hecky saying we should have matched what L1 teams were willing to pay? If he was then yes he was probably bashing the club. If he was saying the reality is there are clubs in L1 willing to pay more than the value we place on a player then no.

Also... think Hecky may actually know things that are factual. Not rumour or conjecture.

 

why spend money when the owner through no fault of his own is terminally ill and is open to the right offers for the club..whilst his son Who doesnt want to be there......mmmm ....makes sense if your the son...

It was sarcasm in regards the fact Hecky knows exactly what is going on. Unlike any of us on this board.

 

Agree with last bit about fact.. in the sense that how can it be bashing if it's true.. people may not like to hear it but if it's true then it's true...
As for DRs post losing out on players.. club's try to keep that under wraps cos it makes em look a little tinpot... So it will always be putting 2*2 together,... And why there's a media team, and not just one person reporting the facts. .

 

Sounds like Omar Bogle then. Confirms what Hecky said about losing players to League One teams, if you also include McAleny.

 

I can tell you straight up it's no rumour, it's fact. I have to be very careful what I write as it could potentially land someone in some real deep water and I wouldn't do that to them.

Anyway, it's not Thiam. As far as I'm aware we're waiting to see if his current side can get a replacement quick enough. If they can't then I imagine we will move on.

I simply have no clue who it is, I simply don't know as I haven't, and won't be told. All I know is it's a league one striker. That's it. I'm not fishing, I'm simply telling you a few bits I here from a person who is well involved.

As for other transfers I have no idea, I can only imagine if Hecky said they're close on 4 then they're now close on 3?

If I hear anything at all I generally post it. This person who I know is a very close family friend and I feel daft enough pestering him every other day for news of what's happening down at oakwell. He tells me bits and bobs and he's aware I post them on here so long as I am quite cryptic regarding who said what and who is who etc etc etc.


Hecky ain't daft lads, if they don't happen they dont happen. On the bright side we have the best manager in the league and I'm certain he will sort it out one way or another.

Ta. I find it interesting. It wasn't meant as a pop against you. Just how people jump up and down about rumours. If he can keep us up this year he will be a great manager. Not easy turning a team of lower league players into established championship players.

Who we get in has to be the right character as much as anything else. People chasing the money rather than chasing the dream are probably out of our reach.

 

Exactly this mate, I agree 100%. Any player that rejects us is a player we are grateful to not have in my opinion. You never know, in 2 weeks time that player might be back darn Oakwell begging to sign, it's a funny old game init?

I would have liked to have seen a player or 2 signed up today though, especially after Hecky said they're extremely close just yesterday.

 

In which case I'm not surprised we couldn't agree terms. They're paying Bogle and Morsy decent wages so imagine Grigg isn't on less or much less than £10k.

Coupled with the fact Wigan paid £1.5m for him then he's probably going to cost us £1m or so? Plus £10k a week for 3 years? So a total outlay of £2.5m. On a player who didn't cut it at champ level (5 in 33 games) last attempt and then got a career stalling knee injury?

Right fee and wages he may have been worth a punt. Not overly disappointed though.

I dont see why its emabarrassing & he made the statement yesterday & its a match day today & I am sure he said he was hopeful they would get done this week not by tuesday afternoon

 

No, I just think he is being is normal honest self. I dont understand why every statement he makes is analyzed in such depth.

 

So if a League one club offers ridiculous terms that they simply can't afford in the long run we're supposed to match them?

 

If we are told that 3-4 signings are as near as done and then don't materialise then that's embarrassing . I'm leaving myself wide open to being wrong and hopefully so but like I say we'll see .
