You're totally missing the point

I don't expect us to be competing for promotiion to the premiership in the near future and I haven't said anything of the sort. But I do believe this club is capable of challenging in the top half of the championship some time in the future. Andy Ritchie claimed that we would never be in that position again. I think he's wrong and he should have more belief in both the club and himself as a manager.

    Okay. Fine. Me Personally..

I don't want to hear our manager saying premiership football will NEVER return...

sack him now i say, whats the point in having a manager who doesn,t think we can get back to the premier league.I know we are a long way off but i get the impression it will be a brilliant achievment by him just to get us promoted, that,s no good to us richie!Look at charlton they have shown what can be done.

    If thats what he said..

..then as far as I am concerned he ought to be publically reprimanded at the very least.

I dont expect us to challenge for promotion to the prem in the very near future but I certainly hope it may happen in the next 10 years.

I hope we can get out of this division soon, this season does not seem to be that far fetched.

I would hope we could then survive and perhaps establish ourselves as a mid table championship side in say 4 years and then who knows?

To say we have no Hope of achieving that is anethema to me. For Ritchie to publically make such a statement is crass to say the least.

If the directors support ritchies views then our hopes are far too divergent for me to continue with my season ticket purchasing habit.

I'm sure that's what he said...

No doubts I/we will have got it all wrong

Just for the record, I'm not expecting/demanding Premiership football very quickly, but that is surely what we all HOPE for. It's the whole point of football.

Maybe he worded his thoughts badly. He said "Never...unless clubs have a benefactor"

Where is Sheff United's or Charlton's then?

That's Charlton Athletic, who went up the season after us...and have (I think) stayed there ever since.

It is..imho still possible, however unrealistic at the minute. Not easy by any means but impossible? No. Should our manager WRITE OFF "club's like Barnsley and Oldham"? No, he should not...

RE: Oh no. Andy Ritchie has written the club off.

Neither will closing the club down which was the other option.

Are YOU happy that our manager...

said that we will NEVER get back to the top league and all we can expect now is maybe promtion to Championship and maybe dropping to bottom division

I see these comments as unambitious...if HOPE has gone...what is the point...?

He did say though he thought it was possible but may be with someone who would bank roll the club, he may have used a bad choice of words but in the main I think we are years away from a return and he probably summed up the current situation quite accurately.

    Rubbish...He said NEVER...

without a bankroller and this is not the case!!

We've heard this "bad choice of words" defence already this season...

I never said that a return is imminent. He said a return would NEVER happen!!

You are entitled to believe what you want, as am I. I am hurt and upset by his comments.

He has removed my hope for BFC. Thanks.

    RE: So you also believe

Our fan base, what about the likes of SM who is staying away because of 2 defeats. That is negative. We should all be supporting the club in their attempts to get back to the Championship.

    I believe...

that he is staying away becasue of other reasons not just because of two defeats...partly illustrated by the comments that fell from Ritchie's gob today...

    RE: I believe...

So are you saying he is not negative then?

With the shambolic refereeing decisions at MK and at home last week to Donny we would have had at least 3 probably 5 extra points and would be 4th. Now that is positive and an improvement on last year.

You still havent said whether you have ever used the wrong word and had your intention misinterpreted. Just wondering?

    Of course I have...

But if I was saying what you obviously believe Ritchie was saying I would have used "difficult" not "never".

There's not much difference between those words is there? I've no idea how I misunderstood him...

    I fully agree..

But AR is of the opinion that all "a club like Barnsley" can expect is to spend a few seasons in DIV 2, the suffer relegation and maybe relegation again.

    Lovely

Unless I misunderstood him or he "used the wrong word"

Why would it be a lie if he said the club aimed to re-establish itself in the second division?

Surely that's what we all want eh?

sorry Jay, I thought you posted that after the match...

Yes I agree that he's not being ambitious in saying NEVER, but I'm sure he didnt mean it...

but at this moment in time we wont for ages, unless we get a very big investment...

Now if you were demanding Premiership football...

that would really make me giggle.

I'm glad you NEVER put a word wrong.

Given that we've been in the top division once in over a hundred years, I think Richie is closer to the mark than anyone who says "some time in the next ten years"

FFS stop bloody moaning will yer

I listned and was a bit miffed about his comments but then THOUGHT about it in reality he's fully commited to getting us out of this division and into the championship and then re-establishing our selves there.YES it is going to be a struggle at first and anybody thinking anything else is deluding themselves big time(look at Washday and they thought it would be a doddle).BUT if and when we do get back into the championship and if we become seriously competitive does anybody seriously think Ritchie would'nt go for it (echoes of previous years eeee they don't want to go up can't afford it etc etc heard it all got the tee shirt and stuff).Basically all he said was if he was totally honest with himself he thought it was getting less and less likely that a smaller team would come through and make it to the Premiership without a serious injection of cash.Any comparison between us and the Blunts is ridiculous its taken them years and years of wheeling and dealing to get to their current position. As far as I can see Ritchie is being pilloried for being honest (and lets be fair if he'd said he wanted premiership football he'd just be making a rod for his own back and a lot of others would be ridiculing him now instead of having a go).FFS talking of sacking somebody now for something that is currently light years away by comparison yep really bright that, lets just take it a season at a time and hope for continual improvement thats what did it before and if the team do'nt improve in time well thats the time for a change not over something thats hypothetical at the moment and thats putting it mildy.4 - 0 GODD PERFORMANCE THATS WHAT WE DID TODAY AND SOME OF YOU ARE TALKING OF SACKING HIM IT DEFIES BELIEF (furious)
