Just because one person is hideously overpaid doesn't mean another should be the money paid to footballers is unsustainable and morally repugnant. As others have tried to explain to you there has been a direct correlation between the increasing in wages and the cost in the pocket to football fans that hasn't occurred in other sports which is one of the issues. Also it causes inflation within the game where average players are massively overpaid.

If Rooney and other football stars are worth their money. How about they get a relatively small basic salary and the rest is completely linked to success and achievement. Performance related pay has to be the way forward.

The prime minister of our country earns £142,000 a year and he runs the country. Rooney kicks a ball round. Any nurse in any hospital performs a more valuable service to society than any Rooney does.

Yes, because it's full of capitalist pigs who should be shot through the head with a bolt gun.

Wage bill for 2012/2013 was £162 million so that purse Rooney around the 9% mark doesn't it?

You understand that's a completely arbitrary figure to extrapolate any information from. I could give you the economic formulas but they are quite dull but basically using turnover it is impossible to evaluate the input of any particular individual into a business of the size of Manure.

Ashley Young paid 90 grand a week for FFS is that not the definition of madness.

Rooney is an over-paid, under-performing, selfish little **** who no-one likes. Not even his team mates or club supporters. Where's the argument?

I fear you'd have more success with this one if you tried banging your head against a brick wall!

    Thread summary

Young man who's never had to work for a living doesn't understand the relative value of money.

    Annnnnndddddd, there it is.

He didn't say 'Tarn legend Bobby Hassell' or 'our own Bobby Hassell'. Not even plain old 'Bobby Hassell'. No, he used the term 'some footballer'.

    You need help, spadge.

    I'm confused.

What does this have to do with the argument that excessive wages paid to players is causing club debt to increase and is not beneficial for the longevity of the game?

"unlike other countries, the Premer league teams all get the same."
