I'm sure some polite letters asking for the right to vote would have worked just as well.

Do you mean "right" to vote?

Well she sadly killed herself, endangered numerous other jockeys and animals, and she ruined a national spectacle.

There was no need for that type of activity.

Although it is considered more likely than not that she did it by mistake. In other words, not deliberately.

Seems to be a tragic mishap as much as anything else. Rather than a throwing herself in front of the horse as a suicidal act.

    I agree this is abhorrent.

But just to raise the point that some environmental activists are convinced that stunts like these are carried out by agents on the payroll of... none other than Big Oil. To illicit precisely the disgust at the name of JSO it leads to.

Would you be at all surprised were that the case?

Of course I meant "right". Did pointing out a typo add anything to your point or was it just smugness for the sake of it?

There clearly was a need for that type of activity, and it worked.

But the protests are stupid strapping yourself to a goal post, threatening to disrupt the London marathon which people train all year to raise money for good causes, stonehenge. Just getting peoples backs up.

They should go spray the Great Wall of China, they produce twice the co2 per capita that we do. See how they get on there, I mean if they really do care about it they should target the worse offenders surely?

I support their aims but not particularly their tactics and in this case it's plainly wrong headed, however, as you say, we're talking about it so it's working.

I wasn't 100% behind Big Val's tactics either but you can't dispute the result.

Persuading China to reduce their carbon footprint is hardly the job of UK based activists though is it? It's the job of government using our influence on the international stage (supresses a laugh).

As for per capita co2 emissions, see this map (below) Russia, Saudi Arabia, Australia and The USA are the worst offenders, not China by a long stretch. China is greening their economy faster than most so protesting there would be pointless. So let's just carry on letting grubby Saudi money into our national sport instead.

Well for a start it's not oil killing the planet it's humans. There is just to many of us. Slow the population growth and the need for everything goes away. If not we will probably have more wars to slow us down.

    Its slowing down naturally.

Population growth has declined mainly due to the abrupt decline in the global total fertility rate, from 5.3 in 1963 to 2.3 in 2021. The decline in the total fertility rate has occurred in every region of the world and is a result of a process known as demographic transition.
And you think climate change is the least problematic of the 2. ?

    He didn't say that.

He pointed out that the population growth is slowing, which is what you said needs to happen.

It's the same general misinterpretation that people make when the inflation rate falls, and it has to be pointed out that this means that prices are still increasing when a Tory MP, with Laura Trott being high on the suspect list, inevitably states in an interview that they're falling.
