had gazza joined Man United he would have had a list of honours a mile long. Biggest shame in footy that he chose spurs Fergie would have looked after him. Roy keane will say ****** like that because he won plenty. Shearer won hardly a thing but it doesn't make him ***** does it
Doesn't it make you wish Gazza had gone to AC Milan instead of Lazio and won the lot with them? Greatest English midfielder in recent history.
I dont think it is properly monitored in schools because it is almost impossible to keep track of whether or not the average child is getting any better at football or not and because there is no real form of logging the progress of children. That isn't necessarily anybody's fault it is largely because it is completely different to english, science etc. I know that the government is obsessed with the elite and it stinks but in my experience so are the PE teachers at schools because it is their only chance of getting any glory. When I was at school you weren't allowed in the sports hall outside of your lesson times at all. Well unless you happened to be on the school football or basketball teams in which case you had full access to the sports hall whenever you wanted it before school, at breaks, lunch time and after school 5 days a week. During lessons most kids were just left to essentially have a kick about with no real teaching involved, except for those on the school team who basically got 1 on 1 teaching. When it came to getting your school report card at the end of the year the laziest kid out of the lot got an A for effort just because the teacher thought he was the best at football (ironically he wasnt even in the top 10 in our year), everyone else got C's despite putting in much more effort.
Just watched this cause I saw a few people mention it. Bloody good watch. I'd recommend it to any football fan
Players like Gazza come once in a life time. If he was playing today in his prime he would be ranked alongside messi and ronaldo. He was that good. Gerard Lampard Wiltshire don't even come close to how good he was. If you ask anyone 'within he game' they will tell you how good he was. You've used fergie and coley more to support your arguments before. One tried to sign him and rues it to this day not being able to. The other had him in his England all time XI You sum up modern football fans. Bound by the opinions of sky sports. Oh and another thing, I saw Gazza turn out or a charity football game once. He was playing a celeb XI. He got the biggest cheer of the night. And still the best player on the pitch as pissed as he was.
Phil you need to realise just how good Gazza was, he was and is the most naturally gifted midfielder that this country has ever produced and that includes Roy Keane and Stevie G. Had he gone to Man Utd when he had chance he'd have won everything. There are players, lots of them, who have won loads of medals and honours who aren't good enough to lace Gazza's boots. You need to watch him in his prime and keep an open mind - you'll see what everybody is saying.
To finally put this debate to bed... Has anyone ever heard of two nations fighting for years over an area of land called the 'Lampard Strip' or the 'Rooney Strip?' See, Gazza must be a legend.
One of the most iconic moments in English sporting history and you're taking the pi55. I can't get my head around your bitterness for Gazza.
It's obvious a wind up cos seriously no one can be that unintelligent, if it's not a wind up then....oh dear.
I think that Wilshire is a very good player who England could build a team around. Gazza was something special though despite what Hemsworth Tyke may in his deluded way say and he can stick statistics up his arse as they can be interpreted to say anything. I'm sure David Batty was a far better player than Le Tissier ?
Listened to Mr Rafa Nadal today He was quite clear about success and failure. Success will mean wining it Failure will mean not winning it. He basis success and failure on the things he wins.
Talking of which. I was bursting for the toilet during the game, but persevered for as long as I could. Eventually I relented to my engorged bladder and ended up missing Lineker's equaliser!! My mates were offering me a fiver each to have another pee for the rest of the game. They blamed me for not taking them up on their suggestion during the penalties, rather than Pearce & Waddle!!
So it was your fault we lost was it Kev? All these years I knew there was some kind of devine force at work, conspiring against us and now I know
