They all started shouting & cheering whilst I communed with nature, so I simply thought they were trying to wind me up. I came to realise just what an impact my bladder had on the history of football!
Depends how you look at it. They've increased Funding for certain sports, at the expense of others. So, we may well get medals in cycling and rowing, but meantime, grassroots development of other sports has suffered. Staff have gone. The loss of School sports co ordinators is a massive blow. Certainly in Yorkshire, massive differences were being made in terms of after school participation and linking schools to clubs. All gone because the priority is medals. It will look good on Tv for two weeks, but afterwards we'll still be left with sports that are well funded, and those that aren't. Well still have the problems of developing sports at grass roots level.
