Just when it couldn't get any worse ..... Flicker & Bury lose from 1-0 up and let me down in my 6 fold acca!!!!
That stoppage was less than a minute (sorry to sound sad, but I was covering the match for the media, so I was sitting there with a stopwatch); my main query was where on earth did the initial four minutes come from?
He didn't do much, but a couple of touches of brilliance show that he's still got the magic in his feet; he just needs to plug his brain in.
6 substitutions and timewasting? Who knows , most standard games have 3-4 mins added as the norm these days. There was only one team going forward looking to score so just rewards for awful negative tactics from a horrible team Port Vale.
Doubt he'd want to move to a smaller club who'll be in the same division as us next season anyway. Wigan have had their moment of glory and will tumble back down to their natural level.
I wouldn't piss on Keith Hill if he was on fire. Nobody should underestimate the job he's doing at Rochdale though pretty impressive. I see him as a modern day Alan Buckley incapable of moving outside his comfort zone where he can play the big I am but still a good manager for them. Given the ***** Rochdale fans have put up with over the years I can't begrudge them any success that could come their way.
We can't know for sure if he's only able to succeed with the one club, because in fairness, he's not the only manager we've had under Cryne who's failed to succeed. We could have appointed any other manager in 2011 and I doubt they'd have done any better than Hill.
Rochdale mean as much to me as Atalanta, or the Guinea national team, or Wellington Phoenix. When Keith Hill isn't managing them, I don't care if they win the Premiership and Champions League in the same season, finish bottom of the Conference North, merge with Oldham, or go out of existence entirely. When Keith Hill's there, though, I only wish them failure. Once he's gone again, I'll revert to never thinking about them.
There are loads of teams I wouldn't mind having a season or two of glory. I guess I'm just a big softy. Supporters of clubs that have never operated above League 1 level with massive local competition who support their local team are fine by me and I wish them well. I ******* hate Keith Hill though
Well some of you know me as a Keith Hill fan. He is a good manager, simple as. He has an abrasive nature about him but then so did Brian Clough. He inherited a team in decline at Barnsley and were it not for his team being ripped apart by transfers and injuries I think he would have done better than he ended up doing albeit on a poor budget. We went down anyway. We would have gone down under Flitcroft too. If we had gone down under Hill I still believe we would be in much stronger shape in this division by now. As far as the Rochdale thing goes I hope they go up. The fans there don't get much joy/success so it will be great for them if they got to the Championship. Much rather them than the mighty Blunts
I'm glad we never got the chance to find out. He had alienated majority of our fans by the time he left. Don't think he will ever be able to sustain a job at a bigger club than Rochdale due to his abbrasiveness.
