I've been retired for a few years now, but in my youth I played the game to a reasonable level, until I married and started a family, when I decided that I couldn't afford to be off work due to football related injuries. I worked very hard most of my life, at various jobs, some menial and some managerial. I also had hobbies that required "performances" in front of crowds of people, some were "fans" and some weren't. Throughout all of this, I have recieved a fair amount of praise for my efforts, in what ever sphere and also a fair amount of criticism (some justified and some not IMHO). My point is that, I always found the criticism to be more likely to create the will in me to do better, than the praise did. I always wanted to prove the doubters wrong, because the others were already converted.
RE: I asked what the better way was he thinks that's how to get Knowles to make the website better.......
No, chopra always had the ability While he was on loan at barnsley he was going through the motions and putting in little effort, he was booed and instantly (literally to the minute) he stuck two fingers up at the ponty end and set out to prove a point.
Lack of effort isn't a fair criticism of KO He works hard and wroked hard last night. Yes his finishing nneds to improve but he is the only person who at least gets in to those positions to have a chance, one of which brought the corner we scored from
RE: Lack of effort isn't a fair criticism of KO we shouldnt have needed that corner to score he should have buried it!

I put Sieg Dirk into Google images And this one one of the images suggested. I lead a sad life.
If was a very good save to be fair he did the only thing he could which was hit it on the strecth and the keeper got something on it. You must agree we looked better when he came on last night, He linked up play well with midfield and get in behind them several times. Should have done better with the one on one but did the right thing in trying to go round the keeper he just over ran it - I've seen Rooney do that a million times! I'm not saying he's a world beater or necessarily will be first choice but i do think he adds something different to our game, but not playing with Macken, they both need to play with a striker who plays off them
I agree entirely but surely He is getting all the encouragement from his manager and coaches and it doesn't appear to be working. Maybe they should take leaf from the "unhappy" supporters book and try the other tack, see if that does. Maybe that is the problem, he is getting mixed messages.

RE: No, chopra always had the ability That's an interesting take on reality.
When he first came (under Paul Hart) he was stuck out wide - fish out of water. Unfortunately many brain donors in the crowd couldn't see that he was out of position. He was eventually played centrally and started to show his true ability. The boo-ing of a Barnsley player after scoring was nothing short of a disgrace and showed the mentality of those that did it up for what it really is. To try and claim that one occasion made Chopra put the effort in is quite frankly laughable.

I like how everyone forgets the reason that the ponty booed him when he scored and ran over to them He had given them the finger 5 minutes earlier
Lol Did you hear what was being said to him ?
I sit in the Ponty but strangely didn't see that. I saw his reaction after the boo-ing. Justified totally.
Just because people work for a football club does not then entitle their parentage, ethnic origin and many other things to be bellowed at them by means of abuse.
So we're accepting that the boo-ing wasn't in fact what made him 'put the effort in' ?

RE: Good post, but wasted on the brain dead idiots that make up a large percentage of our support nt The fact is a lot of fans will refuse to blindly back an individual who takes over £100k a year out of our club for very little in return. If it was a director or non playing member of staff doing the same we'd all be in up roar.
