it got sarcastic cheers and laughter from our fans didn't it?

which in my opinion was exactly what was intended and why I feel it was inappropriate. That and the fact we NEVER put updates on loan players on the scoreboard. never.

I've never heard any racial abuse towards him

And i bet i've seen about 55+ of the games Odejayi's played in - home and away.

"You say we don't do it with other players that go on loan, but when did we last have a player go out on loan who scored?"

Brian howard last season, rob atkinson last season, odejayi last season etc

Rob Atkinson scored in a 3-3 draw on 21-11-08. Barnsley weren't playing that day. That was his only goal while on loan

Brian Howard scored away at Forest on 9-12-08. Barnsley were away at Swansea that day. That was his only goal while on loan.

Kayode scored on 3-3-09. Barnsley were away at Cardiff that day. That was his only goal while on loan.

What do you want the scoreboard operator to do, go in when Barnsley aren't playing just on the off chance that a loan player scores?

That pissed on your bonfire didn't it.

    *edit*

Should keep you busy for the evening too, finding the last time a Barnsley player scored a goal while on loan and Barnsley were at home. We all know you'll do it, have fun.

Don't think he will ever come back in to Barnsleys current first team, looks like he has found his level at Colchester. Aidy Boothroyd will be playing long ball which may suit him there. Good Luck to tho.

    I wish the lad well.

It isn't his fault that he was picked by his manager to do something he's patently not good enough to do - ie score goals regularly in a Championship side.

It isn't his fault that his manager excused failure after failure on his behalf and continued to exhibit blind faith. You can only ask someone to do their best. You can't say: be talented.

If my boss sets me a task which is too much for me, I'll give it my best shot. Don't be surprised if I mess it up, though, and don't be surprised if, after putting weeks or months of training into me, I continue to make mistakes if the task is still beyond me.

I'm glad it's coming right for Odejayi. Him going to Colchester would be the best thing for him and the best thing for us. He's had a horrific time at Barnsley, and I imagine he'll be relieved when it comes to an end. There's no sense of mocking or unpleasantness from this fan. I think he did his best, unlike Chris Lumsdon and Kevin Donovan, for example. I can forgive him for not being good enough. Not putting a shift in, as with the latter two, is more difficult to swallow.

    Good luck, KO.

I think a lot of its about confidence. Hes doing exactly the same for Colchester as he has done for Barnsley, which is getting in good, goalscoring positions. Difference is that hes scoring the close range goals that he was missing for us. Seems like he believes in himself more at that level.

I hope he continues to score and we can get a bit of money to offset his cost.

I hope he does well for them

It's no more than he deserves, he might not have been the best striker we've had at the club, and in all honesty it's not often we get a really good one either, but it's unfair to single him out with abuse, ironic cheers and constant heckling (spelling).

Then again i hope they weigh in with a decent offer in January and tke him permanent, good luck KO i'll remember you for the goal against Chelsea and not the miss at wembley.
