Met him on a couple of occasions and he's a genuinely friendly, cheerful, generous bloke and massively enthusiastic about Barnsley - both the club and the town. And he's certainly very well respected by fans. On the face of it it's a strange decision. Khaled has talked about the connection to the community but this action appears to be the opposite of that. Disappointing......
I blame the sympathisers and clappers, its all their fault. They're the ones who are really pulling all the strings!!.
What other shameful behaviour has this board done mate? Genuine question btw - I know full well what happened with Conway & Lee
I don’t see this board as any different to Lee/conman and I won’t treat them any different until they prove otherwise. I’m not going into it again but until I’m told Lee is no longer involved in the club they will get treated the same. trust is earned and so far it’s still up for debate. Getting rid of a bloke who given up half his life to bfc is shameful, just like trying to move us out of oakwell and getting rid of all the scouts is.
That’s a very classy statement. I would have written 1000 words of bile throwing everyone under the bus.
Without knowing the ins and outs. (I'm not sure what his employment was contractually) But if an employee of the club. He has rights under TUPE if the job is outsourced. In my situation for example you couldn't be made redundant at the point of transfer and the new employer had to take you on under the same terms and conditions. Pensions can be shafted. He should have been consulted prior to the announcement. Given he works for the Chronicle as well. It's not totally clear. A visit to a solicitor that deals with employment law may be well worth a visit. (He'll unlikely be in a union. If so it would be the NUJ at best) Tbh I just thought he was purely freelance. If that is the case he wouldnt be covered by employment law. Seems harsh if it's a case of just wanting to save a few quid. And If that is the case. They want pulling to task. One big happy family. Not imo.
Don't know the full story so not going to comment on what's happened. I have now read the statement by Stretch though and have to say that's an extremely dignified and very genuine response.
Would hope so. An email to the club certainly wouldn't go amiss. Be an interesting response. There would be lots of support from those that know Kieth. Outsourcing to an agency does not necessarily mean a saving. But if it does it'll be insignificant. Wonder if the Crynes were consulted.
Keith, mate, you can be proud of yourself and of the job you have been doing. Whoever made this decision couldn't know that you are up there with Whitey and Beth in the hearts of the faithful. I hope that the BFC official can 'man up' and backtrack on this decision (no shame in that... in fact, kudos) A nice part of my matchday ifollow experience is watching you organise the centre circle for the five minutes before each game. And your work is outstanding. This decision is just directly opposite to what our Club's leaders are expounding about the Club and supporters.
Very disappointing to hear. They surely knew a decision like this would alienate the fans so it feels like such a dumb thing to do. I’d like the club to explain it (there could very well be a good reason) but I won’t hold my breath. I’m still waiting for an explanation of why we thought it was acceptable to screw over Guiseley by cancelling our pre-season game…
Shut it. Not a place for cheap shots like that. Get to fcking Hilsborough, if that’s all you have to say. Prat.
