You didnt answer the question about which transfers you referred to or did you mean transfer windows. In which case the summer was hardly a disaster when we had a side thats comfortably top half of the Championship. Its far too soon to say this window is a disaster. Of course you can always improve and replacing Fletcher is going to be very difficult with our wage structure. But we didnt do too bad - 2nd highest scorers in the first half of the season, and highest away goals total in all 4 leagues. Replacing Fletcher and Winnall is even harder still of course - we will just have to see whether we suffer 2nd half of the season
I didn't realise you were referring specifically to a LB. Yiadom has proved more than capable there anyway. I don't think central midfield has been an issue in the first half of the season, do you? They're strikers, different types maybe but we weren't short of numbers (or goals) up top.
Highest paid football man who as a priority is trying to coach a team in arguably one of the best leagues in the whole of Europe. We're tenth in that league.
Bigger clubs? what bigger clubs? Only seen that Villa are interested in Bree. Roberts has been linked to a club in Premiership, for me thats the big one
Hemsy. You've made a couple of good posts recently. I've agreed with some of what you've posted and actually thought in a similar fashion. Then you post this absolute nonsense. Smaller fish in the pond? Losing Roberts, MacDonald and especially Hourihane, who like it or not is our best and most influential player in years would be a bigger loss to the team than James Bree whether you like it or not. Simple fact of the matter is a team is only as good as it's spine. You could have Roberto Carlos and Cafu at fullback but if you've got Mike Flynn and Miles Addison at center half you're going to struggle. That's not a slight on Bree by the way, he's exceptionally talented on that much we agree. In terms of value. The reason you'll get more for someone like Bree as opposed to Hourihane has a number of factors. Age, sell on ability and worry about tribunals due to age are all huge considerations. Because teams are willing to pay 5m for Bree and 1.5m for Hourihane (reported figures, not mine) are a combination of all the above factors not simply down to ability alone. Finally, I have literally no idea what this obsession is with a defensive midfielder. In a 4-4-2 formation, which we play 90% of the time they are simply not needed. I like the reference often used on here as 'a handbreak'. They often slow play down and that simply doesn't work with our counter attacking style. I'd much rather have a more mobile couple of bodies in there who can get about the pitch rather than sit deep. In my option, the reason we lost on Tuesday was we were TOO deep, a DM won't help with that. We needed someone to 'break the lines' as our old mate LJ would say and pick up the little pockets of space that Winnall used to do so effectively, thus pulling either defenders or midfielders out of position and leaving room for others to make intelligent runs. My thoughts anyway.
Your nit picking about dropping the odd point when we've won at places that no one would give us a chance at the beginning of the season? Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
Why not just say "Bree is my favourite, and the rest aren't as good or as valuable" instead of beating about the bush with such a long winded post? Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
You keep ignoring the ING rule, is this because you don`t agree with it or is it just one of those old rules that you think needs changing.
Manchester City, Tottenham, Southampton. Those clubs, not like they've been in Europe this season playing Football.
