Hoyland Common The house scene was filmed at a semi on Parkside Road. If you look closely at the scene where the kestrel is dumped in a bin, you can see HNUDC on the lid. - Hoyland Nether Urban District Council - it was pre-1974.</p>
RE: some of it was in lundwood though The opening sequence were he runs to do his paper round seemed to me to start at Priory Rd. He is then shown running on Sheffield Rd. in town and then starts running down King St. and if you look at the bottom you see the top of Oakwell Lane and even closer you can just make out one of the original floodlight pylons at Oakwell. You next see him running down John Edward St. off Honeywell St. and then you see him go through a Ginnel between 2 houses and on to what they used to call, Ithink, Keel Fields At the bottom of which you can see the old Star Paper Mill. I can't follow the rest of that sequence.
Darns man.... bloody Darns! Top man Jim Darn, tanners worth a fish bits and a thripny bag a chips. Royal scran!
RE: Hoyland Common the house interior scenes were filmed a bit further up the street from the red rec where the sound stage was built. (Filmed in Hutchies house). When they knocked the sound stage down they tarmacced the rec over and built us some swings and a roundabout. It was the only open area we had to play in until the local farmer sold the fields next door to the council and they turned it into playing fields.
