I just discussed this with a football scout One of my work colleagues in his spare time works for "Scouting Network" - this is an organisation that provides reports to clubs -mostly in leagues 1 and 2 who dont have the resources to do it themselves. He often watches Aldershot for clubs who are about to visit. Basically the process is as follows: The club that need the scouting report contact the host club and ask for tickets for a scout The host club have to provide a ticket and the unwritten rule is it is in the directors box. This is a reciprocal arrangement and all clubs follow the same approach. This is no different whether it is a club manager - eg Blackwell - or a representative such as my colleague Its seen as a buisness entertainment you look after others as you expect to be treated at their ground - just the same as you treat the officials from the visiting away club. In our case the club cannot decline Blackwells request. He has every right to watch either a player or the way either us or QPR are playing - just as we have the same rights at Brammall Lane. It would not be reasonable to give him a seat with the normal fans - home or away for 2 reasons. 1. He is a guest of the club and so its expected we look after him - refreshments etc (the same if we go there) 2. can you imagine if he had been put in the Ponty next to Nudger - whatever our views on the guy (and I cant stand him) that is clearly not an acceptable way to treat him. In conclusion - no one from BFC or QPR for that matter would have invited him - he will have invited himself The club cannot decline the request The only realistic place for him to sit is the directors box There is nothing else the club could have done
yes pretty much Maybe if I had read your post first it would have saved me some typing A quick - I just spoke to a scout and he said exactly the same as Nutkins would have done
I think they should have had a trapdoor or something and part way through the game it opens and Blackwell drops into a large glass box full of custard and aids.
I wondered who the first to crack that gag would be I was expecting Dirk but you win the race I suppose
eh what? rothred, rothred, rothred, I think you are getting a fixation Dirk. Seeing as you seem to be running a eye clinic this morning, is there any chance you could get me a new pair of rose tinted specs, cos Davey is wearing my current pair very thin.
OOhhhhhhhhhhh.................MMMyyyyyyy.............GGGoooodddd !!! I posted on here about my dig at Blackwell on Setdi And the follow up posts concentrated on why I had got two STs in my pocket. Obviously those posting this have forgotton about the Ian Hume incident Windy posts on here asking why Blackwell was allowed into the directors box. And the follow up post, including some actually asking scouts, is the in's and out's of how managers and scouts get tickets to watch matches at other clubs ........FFS !!!!!!.............THAT IS NOT THE FOOOKING POINT !!!!!! Let me explain because it is obvious some on here have forgotten - we have a player called Ian Hume that cost over a Million ££££. That player had is skull knocked in by Chris Morgan a Sheffield United player. Ian Hume sustained a life threatening injury and may never play again. It is suspected from Barnsley FC that Chris Morgan and the rest of the Sheffield United players were under instruction from the Sheffield United manager Blackwell to kick Barnsley off the field during that match. There was outrage on television in newspapers and from Barnsley FC fans about what Morgan had done. A few months later............Blackwell walks into Oakwells directors box and starts laughing and joking with his mates Obviously with everything that has been said and done...........Blackwell has ignored everything about the Hume incident and by walking into Oakwell has shown nothing but contempt to Barnsley FC and its fans That contempt is directed at.................ME and YOU !!!
But given what people have said about what arrangements exist within the game the club probably had no prior knowledge Blackwell was due to come and when he did turn up had no choice about admitting him. It really is as simple as that. There is of course an emotional arguement about the Hume/Morgan incident and I would probably have loved to have banned the **** from the ground but that just is not practical, We could easily then face other teams withdrawing our access to games of our choice and leaving us unable to scout teams we are due to play or for players to sign to play out of position. Barring Blackwell would not make Hume play again, I'm sad to say, and we have to move on from that incident, like it or not. We can get our revenge on the football field in April, the best place for it to be delivered, surely.
RE: Get a life and get over it The vast majority of people don't really give a flying f*ck, as evidenced by the amount raised in the fund. Laudible as this is and going to a very worthy cause, the grand sum raised by ALL the BFC supporters and outraged football fans throughout the UK is £1708.84 (inc gift aid). Is this the average home crowd of around 10,000 all giving about 10p each and a bit from around the country, or is it the few that won't let it lie giving a substantial amount? Sh*t happens sometimes and although what Mogs did is unforgivable, nothing will ever come of it
Again, the point is not whether he had permission or not to enter the ground ............of course he has permission to enter the ground. Although under the circumstances Barnsley FC should have stopped him. But then again what are the retributions of this ??? But the point is this...............that Blackwell has shown nothing but contempt for Barnsley FC and its fans by entering the ground
Nudger The reason I asked a scout was I wanted to know the clubs options so I could give a factual answer to Windy's original question I dont want to see Blackwell in the directors box any more than you or Windy in fact I am glad I wasnt there last Saturday as I sit directly behind the directors and would have had him straight in front of me I am fully aware of the point - I still think we should be taking action against Morgan (and Blackwell if we can find any proof that he did encourage his players to deliberately assault us) But there are accepted rules of behaviour we should stay within them even if others like Blackwell dont
RE: Get a life and get over it............you've probably hit the nail on the head ...............Most Barnsley fans have forgotton the Hume incident and now they dont give a f**k Your comments could be looked at the way society is as a whole I'm probably one of the few that still cares, that dont like to see people getting away with doing wrong
See my post for the possible effects of blocking him entry... and why would you expect him to hold Barnsley fans in anything other than contempt? He believes nothing was wrong with the Hume incident anyway! Let's beat them at their place...far better than banning him from the ground IMHO
i think you are still missing the point. the club has acted in a dignified manner (as they have done since november) over the entire incident. Kevin Blackwell and Barnsley Football club have got history post the game last November. The club acted in a professional dignifed manner and rose above the pettiness that may have arisen and avoided any negative fallback. YOu on the other hand did the exact opposite.
Custard and Aids Bloke standing next to large glass box: "whats in there mate ?" Large glass box monitor bloke: "Oh, just custard....................and Aids"
RE: Get a life and get over it I didn't put in because I don't think money is an issue to Iain Hume Fingers still crossed someone gives a Morgan a career ending injury - hopefully on 17th April
