100% true and I’d love to say I wouldn’t accept money from a source such as that for humanitarian reasons. I do consider myself a socialist and to be consciously responsible - but I’m a family man first and foremost. I am also very aware of the world we live in and a realist. I have never and won’t ever try to obtain money through direct criminality - but anyone who wants to pay me with a legal wage for whatever services I can offer them are welcome to offer me a job. If it’s more money (and realistic re relocation and travel etc), I wouldn’t ever refuse as I would see it as selfish to do so when I have a family to both provide for and care for alongside my wife. It would be very easy to assume that if I was a multi millionaire footballer I’d be better positioned to refuse it. Realistically I’d be more likely to take it and use my money and name to make improvements to other people’s lives by endorsing various charities.
But there's the problem in there... If we take money from any source. Any state. Murderous ones, polluting ones, immoral ones. Those who abuse people, hurt people, exploit people. Pollute our air, water, consume natural resource to build towers to flaunt their wealth, go through mountains to create monuments of hubris... We're endorsing their behaviours and actions. If we just take the money regardless of cost... Frankly, we can never be morally better than they are.
The money is there would you prefer the chairman and owners to have it like they did in the past. This is why we have trade unions.
