True we've got to be careful with our words, however suing someone for comments relating to an already litigated financial case would only do more damage than good. Something doesn't smell right, thus the reason for the long running legal debacle.
The full article covers that. The money in question is being termed a 'promotion bonus payment' by Conway but 'purchase price installment' by the Crynes. You can make your own mind up on that one, but it's certain it stems from terms agreed in the original sale. Either way, the Crynes say it shouldn't have been paid by the football club.
I reckon they're just moving payday loans round all their different clubs, not a pot to plss in, any of them
I can recall looking into the guy who tweeted at the time and his reputation is/was no better than our owners. I wouldn’t take anything he said as gospel. Unfortunately can’t remember his name either.
Haven't got the time or inclination to go through and quote reply to everyone so hopefully a generic update will do for now. It's massively lacking in detail to be honest because after taking notes for the first 15 minutes or so I then got involved in some of the questions and that became a lot harder. Also, it's more of a Supporters' Trust update if we decide tomorrow there was enough worth reporting on and the club don't put anything out. Firstly, if we separate our potential issue with some of the answers given, you've got to commend the CEO for hosting a Fans' Engagement Forum and a Supporter Q&A within ten days of each other and also within his first five weeks. It was close to two and a half hours, no question off limits, nothing screened in advance, follow ups to make sure everyone felt their question was answered, etc. After the last 24 hours I'm sure he'll sleep well tonight. Some observations from me: - Updates on Twitter shouldn't be allowed ongoing. Too much is left to interpretation of the author when they try and condense an update down in to 280 characters. Makes calls for live streaming these more relevant though. - He admitted that looking back on his comment about 'squad value' the next day in print made him regret it, as it didn't come across the way he intended at all - He read out a text/answer from Paul Conway regarding the £750k payment. A performance or promotional bonus agreed by all board members (can't remember the exact word) - I went in to detail on this payment, why it was causing such anger amongst the supporter base, how those funds could have supported Schopp, supported the West Stand, or been used as a slush fund for general ground improvements - He promised to seek a clearer answer and come back to us at the next forum or earlier - He also admitted, that as someone new coming in and being told that this payment was agreed by everyone on the board, he basically took this at face value and didn't really appreciate why he was being asked about it. He now fully understands after having it explained in such detail and understands supporter concerns Everything else was as most have seen or heard previously. Plans, vision, seeing us as a 7th to 14th Championship team that with the right momentum can push for the Playoffs. West Stand answers pretty much the same, but the questions were firm, the discussion was live, and I think Khaled probably learnt more about some of the challenges and issues from supporters tonight more than any other. There was no love-in, no happy clapping, but there was a level of respect in the room. I think we do forget he's only been here five weeks and it's been a bit of a mad house. Questions about situations pre his arrival really need to be answered by the board. Overall a slow start, picked up in the middle, and finished positively.
I've slowly come to that way of thinking. All of the pop up / rent an office addresses linked to our owners and the club doesn't fill me with great confidence that they're loaded. They've also got hardly any web presence, and what they do have is basic. Contact telephone numbers seem to be non existent for all registered companies. Might be the new way of doing things who knows? By just doing a cursory search brings up very little in the way of eye catching promotional stuff or detail.
I better rescind this statement. Apparently they bought Nice for €20m and sold it for €100m so unless Paul has a very expensive coke n hooker habit, they should have a bit left.
An accurate summary. Another point of interest was that he said he was meeting with the council this week; to discuss the West Stand issue. At this stage he doesn't know why the Council have a different view on the closure but will be discussed. Also worth mentioning was his response re the comms on MS leaving the club. Many on here were giving the club stick for not going public before the leak. K advised that this was because he agreed to MS' request that the club should give him the opportunity to tell the players on Monday morning.
And to be clear, the comments tonight are to the accuracy of the information provided in the text from Conway, which he took at face value (as would probably be reasonable for us to expect of him). Given the commitment provided, I look forward to a full and transparent response on the matter, which takes into account the input of all interested parties. Appreciate the additional context provided, @Loko the Tyke
No problem. I really want to try and get across two things though. Firstly, some of the discussion tonight was really firm and answers weren't always just blindly accepted, as I can remember four or five soapbox moments for myself personally. Secondly, to be completely fair to Khaled he welcomed all of the discussion and all of the comments. It wasn't 'buzz word city' and he stayed until the last hand went up for a question and then another 20 minutes afterwards. That doesn't mean I agreed with all his points, but it left me feeling like we've got someone capable in charge. I knew my annoyance was almost universally aimed at those above and tonight confirmed it.
Thanks for all that, appreciated. But it's unlikely, short of Conway volunteering for one of these, which I'd estimate is getting less likely by the day, that anyone will get opportunity to do that. So the CEO is the only point of contact and hopefully he'll see it as part of his remit to get answers.
Yes. The council on 4th November and then Dan Jarvis in two weeks. And that was one (two) that I actually wrote down!
Bet he wonders what he's walked into, hope his salary included a years supply of antacids and super strength ibuprofen.
Thanks for taking time to write up. I’ll ask you same as others other week, from what you saw and heard did you believe he was as honest as he could be with his answers? Not about agreeing with answers just you felt his answers were honest?
