They have some high level governance, but not anything to do with day to day rules and regulations or anything like that. Certainly not to the same level they do over the FA Cup.
Apologies if this has been mentioned already, but didn’t we have a similar issue a few seasons ago where the team sheet was issued to the officials and then abruptly changed after one of our players was found to be ineligible due to suspension?
A couple of people have mentioned Doncaster away last year where a player was taken off the team sheet after the warm up...
Well if it is this with Marsh being at york on loan whe first match was played, i cannot see the problem he hasn't played for york in the fa cup. So should be eligable for us he is our player
Probably would have been less embarrassing getting knocked out on the pitch. Of course if we'd finished the job at Oakwell as we should have done......
The FA Cup rules state to play in a replay, players had to be registered and eligible for the original tie. Marsh wasn’t as he was still at York, and was only recalled the following week.
If that’s the case then we clearly didn’t put the requisite checks and balances in at the time. I could possibly forgive a moment of madness, an admin error or something like that but we haven’t learned from past mistakes and it has come back to bite us.
"For all rounds other than the Final, a player recalled to his original Club from temporary (loan) transfer, in accordance with the terms of the loan agreement, may only represent his original Club if any such recall has been received and accepted by The Association by the Registration Deadline for that round."
I wish everyone would stop calling this amateurish most amateur clubs know who is eligible to play and who isn’t. Its well below amateurish
Rough day at work for the member of staff who was supposed to check this but unfortunately missed it. Thankful my admin errors aren't on view for all to see I'm guessing the responsibility of checking these things doesn't fall to members of the board or the CEO(?)
What could make it even worse is that we could have initiated the recall before the Horsham game, but it taken until after the weekend for the paperwork to go through...
This is ridiculous. To be honest when I saw his name on the team sheet I was surprised he wasn't cup tied as I thought he might have played for York. I wasn't aware of the FA rule though stated previously, but those who get paid to know it have truly ****** up. Embarrassing.
