I've been a coach/assistant coach in kids football for for years now and frankly it's sickened me.

I've seen it all, parents calling me on my mobile during a game to demand to know why their son has been off the pitch for six minutes, managers shouting at seven year olds, parents telling kids "you know what to do - he doesn't get past you", poaching players and threats of violence from one set of opposition.

I can't wait to get out.

I've seen so many ego's and so many people who put the kids squarely last that I just think people as a whole are totally f'ked.

I'm sure there's plenty of good teams out there but in my experience they're in the minority.

I actually look forward to the day my lad tells me he doesn't want to play anymore.

If I were you I'd have told him to referee it himself and just walked off.

Back when I was a young en we were playing a game away from home, we must have been 10/11 years old and the ref threw one our players to the ground after a scuffle between one of their lads and ours. Went to some kind of committee or whatever at Sheffield which was basically thrown out because nothing could be proved.

I got sent off in a cup final, 11 years old by a 14 year old ref. The kid lived round the corner from me and me and my mates used to play football with his mates sometimes and I'd been giving him some **** while he was lines-manning the game before. Looking back on its now its quite funny but at the time I was gutted, still won the cup though to do the double.

I remember playing in a schools match away against a Sheffield school, the ref was one of our ex teacher's. We were drawing 1 - 1 when one of our team scored with a shot that went in off the post. The ref blew his whistle and shouted "no rebounds" and gave a goal kick. It finished 1 - 1. Cheating lovely person.

I'm also amazed at the behaviour at adult matches to be honest. When I was playing there was a non-acceptance of foul language whether directed at the referee or not. On the odd occasion I stop to watch these days it's just one expletive after another. The irony is that we didn't use 'pit language' when most of the players were actually colliers....

Went to my godson play once and the parents were smoking Jamaican woodbines. Can't say where it was but is was a village between Brierley and Ryhill

The parents wanted to fight with one chap who only had one arm

Pardon, perhaps I didn't make it clear these were the parents of the opposition

Correct Bob. As others have said it seems rife in kids football. I watched it for over ten years with my lad and although it was the minority there were some parents who were nothing short of mindless thugs who behaved appallingly - towards the ref, other parents and the kids on the pitch. The odd manager was guilty of this too.
