    RE: Arent' these the ones

Yes they are the ones and I believe you can have them MRI scanned. They can also suffer with anal gland problems - I know of one that had to come into us at least once a month to have them expressed. They can also suffer from cherry eye.

    but be careful about KC.

Don't pay top dollar just because it's KC.
Usually the KC dogs are the real inbred problem dogs.

Try dog lovers. Just as good quality dog and you don't get ripped off by some snobby KC old Bint who has bred the mother wiht the son and your dog is as mad as a bag of frogs.

Most of the kc dogs these days have massive inbred congential problems.

    Especially the king charles spaniels

ay your right m1 tyke in some ways all our gsps are used as falconry dogs worked every day and are a little bit too big for kc standards but with the kennel club you do know your dog has at least some correct breeding when my bitch comes in season i will be making a 240 mile round trip to mate her and may have to make the trip 3 or 4 times as the dog i shall be useing is a field trial champion , with some of the pedigree dogs its so easy to be ripped off with non genuine pedigrees that they say you can register with the dogs we have we hip score and eye test the lot to improve the quality of the breed

Bought one for my wife four years ago ....

best decision ever! As I type, he is snoring away on the carpet behind me. Great companion and super-affectionate little doggy! Best tips - take your time. Visit the breeders and ask to see their facilities for keeping the dogs. Don't look for breeders who advertise, as they often breed cavvies as a funding stream for less profitable, maybe bigger, dogs. Use a breeder who specialises in cavvies. Check the breeding-lines and Kennel Club pedigree, as this breed is unhealthily in-breed by some unscrupulous breeders, resulting in dogs which are an apology for the breed and contain genetic health problems. The health problems for which the breed is vulnerable are: heart disease (usually shows about 5/6 years old); eye problems (about same age); arthritis (usually at older age). Excessive in-breeding results in very small, scrawny dogs - you seem to see more and more like this around, so check the state of the dogs and puppies when you visit - do they look nice, blocky, well-proportioned dogs. Is the mother there (should be).

It is a bit pot-luck, but you can cut down the risks by checking the breeder - Kennel Club lists are usually reliable, although the Kennel Club has also had bad press recently over breeding regulations. If the breeder won't let you see the premises, be very suspicious. Trouble is - you take wife, or kids to see a dog - they fall in love with it and it is very hard to convince them that you should wait and look around.

Best of luck - sorry for the delay, but I'm guessing that you didn't just go out yesterday and buy one on e-Bay!! Hope this helps. Lovely dogs - get one with a good pedigree from a reliable breeder and it will change your life for the good - and that of your wife and kids!!!

If it looks like a "insert breed of dog", barks like one and smells like one

Why pay over the odds for a piece of paper.

Unless you're going to breed from it and rely on other muppets who are willing to buy into the KC BS.

Nee'r paid KC prices for my dogs - And describing them as "non genuine pedigrees".......??? What does that mean. My dogs are just as good looking and loverble as anyone elses.

They are pets for crying out loud - not status symbols.

However the young un is mad as a hatter though so it could be KC. I'll have to check with the local pedigree club to see if it is mad enough to qualify.

I know this is cats, but the mother in law recently bought a cat "without papers" for £200.

An identical cat "with papers" was £700.

Both cats **** in the pot plants and rip the curtains.

I don't get the OTT prices for a bit of paper if it's just a family pet that you like the look of.
