So does every small business owner why should farmers be different to everybody else especially the "farmers" like Clarkson who is only a farmer to evade paying taxes.
Well my initial post was, the u.k isnt a major producer of methane. To scoffs idea of us all going vegan to save the planet and **** the farmers.
The worst countries for methane emissions are likely to have high concentrations of livestock, gas and refuse. Our landmass is pretty small so I wouldn't expect our methane emissions to be the highest and if you judge it by country, our population isn't that big either., hence the per capita referencing. Despite some evidence to the contrary, I'd suggest quite a few people have reduced their meat and dairy intakes too, though of course, we still have 10m cattle in the UK, sadly only a couple hundred thousands of that are organic.
If farming ended he would still be a multi millionaire and get well paid TV work. He doesn't need to be there fighting the good fight with the working class. Imagine what would happen if farmers who don't make much cash as it is and are held to ransom by supermarkets just sold up to developers and lived out their days enjoying retirement with loads of cash and no more work hassle. We'd be screwed.
510 arable farms were sold between 2010 and 2024. #justsayin And in the same time period... 14,500 hectares have been lost to developers and leisure purposes.
I worked for Jaguar cars (one of the UK's more successful companies) in IT for 22 years and every so often there were either redundancies or reorganisations in our department and you know what? After every one, there were MORE middle managers and fewer actual workers. Odd really.
That's what concerns me about the new NHS funding. It'll pay for decorated waiting areas, fancy signage and plush computers for middle managers.
Yeah. I keep hearing about the threat from AI, but they'll use it to replace the workers when it would have the most value replacing the senior management...
My Dad said he'd just ask senior management what they actually did? When they replied their name badge title. He'd ask "no don't read what it says on your badge. What do you actually do?" I thought that's ballsy but then again when it isn't your P45 at stake you can ask those questions.
The only thing he cares about is avoiding Inheritance Tax. He doesn't give 2 sweaty balls about Barney Cauliflower and his place in Bedale.
"Project Manager" - that's a job that always baffled me. I once asked one at Jag what he did (contractor on twice my money) and to almost everything he said about the job, I said "Me too!". Oh and I actually wrote and tested the software as well....
He's fighting for one thing and one thing only - his personal tax bill. Bear in mind, this is the same Clarkson who said this about striking public sector workers: "Frankly, I'd have them all shot. I would take them outside and execute them in front of their families." Later he tried to make out that his comments weren't meant to be taken seriously. Aye, really at one with the working classes, is Clarkson...
To be fair.. we all like to pay less tax. Growing up when I did on the building sites as a hod carrier, then brickie, we all aimed for an accountant that would get us to pay less tax. Is it such a bad thing?
