Yet accordiing to Trump all you have to do is sweep the forest floor. I see James Woods, actor, climate denier and Trump supporter lost his house. Had his insure cancelled weeks before too.
What I find unfathomable is why we didn't change to hybrid cars 50 years ago. After nationalisation in 1949, British Rail did trials of different types of diesel traction and had decided by the mid 1960s that Diesel Electric we more efficient and more reliable. Diesel Electric traction is basically hybrid only without a battery. Today we went to look at cars as ours is starting to cost a lot in repairs and we test drove a Renault Captur plug-in hybrid which does 190 miles per gallon compared to our 2013 Nissan Juke diesel which just about manages 50 mpg. Just think how much CO2 emissions would have been reduced if car companies had done this 50 years ago which they could easily have done.
Car companies are only interested in the bottom line. Even today, Toyota are still spending large sums of money actively lobbying against the transition to EVs, mainly because they spent so many years backing the wrong horse with hydrogen that they now need to delay the rollout as much as possible until they catch up. Added to their use of marketing bullsh1t like 'self charging hybrid', they are a company that i would struggle to want to do business with.
But why would the bottom line of a car manufacturing company be affected by such changes to their product? They are always developing and spending millions on redesigning vehicles - I know, I worked for Jaguar for 22 years. Don't forget that hybrid cars (particularly those with the same batteries as in traditional vehicles) would be cheaper to build and therefore more profitable, they would also be substantially more reliable having far fewer working parts. The only companies that would lose out would be - you guessed it - oil companies oh and garage servicing firms which would have a bit less business. The rest of the world would have benefitted enormously.
