No - I assumed they shared her acknowledgement of the need for political expediency.

And the part of here they criticise the outdated and disproved theory of trickle down economics which will lead to austerity. I assume you agree

“Labour is trapped, spellbound in an economic argument that is as empty in ethics as it is destructive in impact”.

“Like the Conservatives in 2010 they are pursuing a political rather than economic agenda - believing that by aping tory arguments on spending they will match into number 10”

“They can debunk the myths that the national economy is in any way analogous to a household budget”.

“They can make the moral case for progressive taxation”

In economic circles that’s as close to an angry what the **** letter as you will ever get as to listening Reeves prattle in on about trickle down economics (that no serious economist believes in). And her championing of austerity as the answer to 13 years of austerity.

I think she'll make a very good Chancellor.

She may very well be competent and her maths might be good but being a good chancellor is in part a mirror of what the thrust of government policy is. So, for me she'll be a good chancellor if taxation, offshore loopholes and domestic spending commitments are sorted in a progressive way. If there are further real cuts, no distribution of income and there is a continuation of austerity she'll be a bad chancellor. She wont have to be reckless to be progressive either. We'll see.

The first job though will be to get elected. After that, things can be built on, so far as I can see. It will require discipline and probably some guile.

    (And she's good at chess!)

Do you think she will get in touch with the respected former Bank of England economist quoted on LBC yesterday who strongly disagreed with her.

Anyone promoting austerity as a way to increase growth is lying to us. Anyone promoting trickle down economics as a method of social progression is lying to us. Outside a very small niche both ideas are as ludicrous as Trussenomics

I think the brexit debate taught us to be wary of those who wave their subjective choice of 'experts' at us. Do you want the Tories back in? Seriously?

you know the BOE expert was Reeves herself right…

As for the tories do I want them back in or do I want Change UK enacting Tory policies after lying to gain power of the Labour Party?

I don’t dislike the tories for anything other than their policies. Working in politics I met some really great people whose policies I abhorred. Labour at the moment have the same policies and are driving austerity and privatisation in the same way as the tories. So neither appeal to me personally.

So I’m going for neither Green all the way. I’d vote for any party to the left of Labour so LibDem if they have any chance of beating the Labour or the tories.
