Interesting how Starmer suggesting a lockdown to give time to get testing and track and trace up to scratch is heard by almost everyone as simply Starmer says we need a lockdown.

it shows that it’s the electorate who don’t deserve intelligent leadership.

Yes - but we ought to be able to read beyond the headlines :)

Also the journalists first question to Starmer, as with any Labour suggestion was "how much will this cost". Don't recall similar line of questioning about furlough, tier system support etc... (Before even mentioning crooked contracts to their cronies for PPE, t&t etc...)

Have to admit I don't fully understand how track and trace can be that effective. So much transmission from "cases" must occur before quarantine starts.

It’s a puzzler, if you choose not to understand something, then you never will. ;)

track and trace has been successfully curbing (note not eradicating) the spread of STI’s and other notifiable infections for decades.

when you get symptoms, it’s probably too late to stop you spreading it as you’ve already done so, but if you tell them you were with me yesterday, if they trace me, it’s not too late to stop me spreading it beyond what I may have already.

    simple :)

Obviously I have no idea what kind of person you actually are, but on here you have a tendency to come across as one of the most condescending people I have ever conversed with.

Stop testing people without symptoms and this 'pandemic'goes away over night.

You wouldnt get tested for the clap unless you were pissing tatty water out your old chap...

Great plan. Really great plan, that. Let’s let all the virus carriers get on with it and infect everyone else. If a symptomless carrier infects you, your parents, your grandparents and they end up in hospital, I assume that’s just fine by you? They didn’t have symptoms so they were fine to wander round like nothings happened?

Let me guess, let’s stop 5G and it will go away, too? Bill Gates mind control etc?

There are valid arguments on both sides, yet people like you that come out with this utter garbage completely eradicate any sensible argument. Less brain cells than a glass of water.

So we wouldn't be seeing the increase in hospital admissions if we weren't testing people without symptoms?

I’m the kind of person who bends over backwards to help people, but I have limited tolerance for people who pride themselves in their idiocy.

Thanks for that. Best way to debate people is to call them an idiot.

What are they going to do, set up road blocks on the border demanding to know where people have travelled from?

I didn’t call you an idiot; worst way to debate is to start the name calling, and follow it up by calling yourself an idiot. ;)

To add to the above; it’s often missed, but people who know me would describe me as funny :)

You have yet to offer a solution other than 50 shades of lockdown. At one point you wanted to lockdown the country until the virus was eradicated. Even folk with the brains of a glass of water know you dont eradicate a virus by locking it down but only suppressing it.

Its very difficult for most folk on here to have a rational debate with you over this as your posts about Covid go from the condesending sublime right through to the borderline hysterical.

I suspect as well given your social isolation. What was it? Youve not been into town since March¿ you have little or no understanding about the short medium and long term socio-economic effects of lockdown. Nor do you appear to have any grasp on how barring anecdotal evidence on here or social media any idea how a large percentage of society have been negativly impacted by the lockdown be it financially, physically or mentally.

But then I think you are very much given the tone of some of your comments very much an 'alright jack'.
As long as you and your beloved get a few bits of fish and a bacon sandwich delivered i dont think you care much about those on the coal face.
What was it you said? If they want to survive they need to be online?

I have more time and respect for the cafe shops and pub owners who can see the writing on the wall yet get up every morning open up determined to die on their feet than live on their knees. Some are scarifcing their own incomes to ensure their staff at least can have a half decent Christmas.

When I go shopping in town I see and talk to plenty of old folk dressed up like they are off down Basra looking for WMDs as they are that frightened of the 'Vid. The ones that go to your little just eat cafes and provide them with their bread and butter takings.
They go out and stand tall. Scared as they are they refuse to let fear dicate how they live their lives

Something that you and a good half a dozen on here could learn a lesson or two from.

As for stopping testing. It needs to be done. Something has to give to end this pathetic charade.

Test healthy people with a test that is flawed- something I have evidenced more than once- find more cases always leads to more lockdowns.

    Which dont work.

Labours own research states every local lockdown bar one cases have increased.

The Tory MP for Bolton has quit his post over lockdowns.

The WHO say lockdowns shouldnt be used.

As for someone being an asymptomatic carrier of a virus. Its nothing new.

Flu being a good example. 50% of flu infections are asymptomatic.

Flu also according the the WHO has twice the fatality rate of Covid. Even with a vaccine.

Given that shouldnt we be out doorstepping everyone with a test?

Especially when compared to Covid deaths Influenza isnt picky about what age it kills at.

On top of that, this time last year. If you tested a 1000 people for 'flu and 300 had a positive return but no symptoms those people would be described as having some kind of immunity. Be it herd or natural.

Now a positive test with no symptoms means you are 'ill'.

Im off to sing and dance in a pub. **** the police.

Look at the percentages of those admitted for Covid v those who have tested positive on arrival for treatment eg ear wax removal...
