to be fair to madmark, if you make something up, i reckon you get to call it what you want. Christmas it is
You are entitled to believe that. Just as you are entitled to believe that his mum was a virgin. You are also entitled to believe that he died 33 years later only to come back to life after a few days. But please don't tell people who don't believe any of this that they're not allowed to celebrate this time of year. The days are getting longer, a new year is around the corner, and it's a lovely time to celebrate with family and friends, just as people did for thousands of years before Christianity existed, and just as people will do when Jesus is relegated to the same division as Zeus, Odin and Thor.
Factually the bible is a work of fiction the current version written about 1600 I believe. Christmas is actually a pagan holiday which Christianity borrowed ibitially the figure of Called Jesus had a birthday in sumner.
Again that is your opinion, not mine. The first written version of the Bible story was written in approx 600AD. Whether you believ it is fiction or not is your choice. I would never say that everyone had to believe it or not. Each person is able to choose for themselves. He was born in early Autumn actually, the Romans moved the Calender as well as the Celebrations, possibly around September time. Which is why the Shepherds were still on the hillsides , if it had been winter the sheep would have been in the vallies where it is warmer.
Albert Einstein "the word God is for me nothing more than an expression and product of human weaknesses. The bible a collection of honourable but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish. For me the Jewish religion like all other religions is an incarnation of the most childish superstitions". Or "the existence of God is not subjective he either exists or he doesn't. It's not a matter of opinion. You can have your own opinions. You can't have your own facts". "Given that there are thousands of gods and most religious people choose to believe in one they are nearly a big an atheist as me". I usually ask people why they believe in their particular god rather than any of the other ones and whatever reasons they give their my reasons for not believing in their god. I have to say though I enjoyed the singing myself for itself Mrs Dyer had a lovely voice.
