Sorry Jamdrop, I did see your post earlier but was at work and didn't have time to respond back to it. No I haven't - I haven't done anything about it yet - the ticket is still on my passenger seat. I didn't take any photos. I will probably just pay it because a. I am a good boy! b. I was, to be fair, parked on a stretch of road that had double yellows and took a calculated gamble that everyone else was, so the locals miust know that it is OK. But it was a double yellow area, so I can't see I have a leg to stand on. c. To dispute it, by definition, means passing the 14 day deadline for halving the value - last night proved an expensive night as it stands, without making the ticket a £70 job rather than a £35 job if an appeal fails. I guess I am just not a maverick!
Yeah, if you were on double yellows you are a little bit screwed!! I still feel they could get you out of it somehow but that's quite a risk to take. I got one for 'obstruction' in a council car park as I was parked in the middle and not around the edge like everyone else (left plenty of gap around me though). However, as there was absolutely no floor marking indicating where I was expected to park there was nothing to say I was in the wrong. Rather annoyingly though that same car park is now shut for 2 days whilst they 'excavate' it. Which I guess means resurface (as it resembles a dirt track more than it does a car park) and most probably paint lines on.
