I remember you and your lass telling me, aye. Odd then innit? And am taking it dint abuse Nyatanga either?
We all still happy that half the land belongs to an institution that, by the sounds of it, would sell the whole lot for housing at the drop of a hat?
Cryne said he would never recommend a 50/50 ownership again. Said always try get 51/49 as council and cryne have simply blocked each other out for years
No think that had been forwarded after I sent in the questions and we didn't quite get get through all of them due to time constraints.
Re: Last Night's Fans Engagment Forum Part 2 Preston Players: Who were they and do we know how much they donated? They should be named and shamed so not sure why their identities are seen as a secret. All good that they have donated but it could be 50 pence for all we know because we've not been told. Away Ticket Distribution: Is there a way for us to make sure clubs hand supporters a stub when they pay on the day? Plenty myself included won't have proof for several games because of this. Rochdale and Scunny are two examples. Got plenty of others so probably be OK anyway but not everyone will be. Ponte Floodlights: If we've had a problem with them for years why hasn't this rather large safety issue been rectified? Also if some of the floodlights don't work why not put on the ones that do? Surely that's better than none at all? I take it the issues on Pontefract Road and Oakwell Lane post matches with regards to accidents waiting to happen is a police matter as it's not on our land even though the club should take an interest in the safety of their supporters a few yards away from their property?
Quite why that institution was given the opportunity to own a half share in the first place is surprising. Now they contribute sod all to the ongoing survival of the club, will reap the benefit of any part sale of the land and appear to be getting in the way of planned progress. Lovely stuff.
I think if players were being brought into the club by people not employed by the club and against the manager's wishes I would imagine there'd be a problem, but if someone comes up with a system to help the manager and the club I'm all for it. Thinking about it though, bringing a player to a club is a big financial commitment. Bringing several in is a massive financial commitment. Players tend to sign on two or three year deals. The person who, at any given time, is likely to be employed by BFC for the shortest length of time is the manager. And that includes the office temp. So maybe letting the manager start bringing in a load of players who are undoubtedly going to be lingering around the club long after they have helped get the manager the sack is not the best business model after all?
Absolutely right. The only thing a minority shareholding is worth is for any dividends from profits. As far as decision making is concerned, it's effectively 1 vote the 51% (major shareholder) and 0 vote the 49% (minor shareholder). Guess who makes the decisions? It's never ideal in any company just to have two shareholders, it just doesn't work. If it was split 3 ways it would work much better, but I'm struggling to see who the independent 3rd party could be. Looking back, Patrick would have probably been better off not involving the council at all and owning the ground himself. Having said that, the land has not been sold off for development yet, so maybe the "blocking each other out" is working fine?
Dreamboy, the club I expect will continue to champion buying a ticket in advance as that is when BFC get a cut. With tickets coming out weeks in advance ideally 99% can buy in good time with free delivery
Which is why you'd hope for someone to be on the board with a football background to offer consistency. Or we should stop sacking managers?
Perfectly understood Dyson. Agent, Software Tycoon/Fan, Lawyer, Freeloader. Not one jot of football experience between them.
He used to have a wee shop at the hospital. That must count for summat. To be fair, you gain experience by doing the job and Bazza has been doing it a long time. He must have summat for so many different owners/chairmen to keep him on.
Mmm, maybe you're on to something there. Maybe Barry is bringing certain players in that he has scouted at the hospital - Richard Kell, Kevin Dixon, Janne Salli...
Could we do a minutes applause for Patrick at a match that. Might be a good gesture if he's still feeling beleaguered.
Not a question I can answer however I suspect someone somewhere is exaggerating this 'abuse' towards person x to satisfy their own agendas...
