I think all 3 would have made it in today’s climate, difference is they were good enough and such as Marsh unfortunately isn’t….wish he was btw but he aint
No, I don't think Marsh is. All the three I quoted though were slated royally and took a good six months to get up to speed. I don't think any manager would take the risk these days.
He had one big injury, a cruciate, that's it. 8 months out. They got rid off him for that one injury?
It's weird because last few strikers we've signed that were supposed to be crap have been half decent for us. Woodrow wasn't met with excitement. "Didn't do owt for Bristol or Burton". Rotherham fans said O' Grady was crap and said same about Carlton Morris. Ipswich fans said that Kieffer Moore was crap first time around. Nobody here rated Ivan Toney. It's pot luck. However, I think one of our main problems down the years integrating strikers is lack of clear cut chances we create.
Exactly, mate. Weve seen enough players to know not to slag them off instantly before even seeing them kick a ball for us - especially when you've never seen them play at all. He had a decent season last season and now will be playing with better quality players. I just don't get the constant need to drag the club or its signings down.
Yeah. Not too shabby a return last season. Especially if he's a target man that brings others into play.
Watching us against Mansfield the other night it was very apparent the tactic was to get the forward line to create chances for the midfielders to run on to. In fairness I thought they both did quite well at that and if we’d converted the chances we’d have won easily. The above would suggest that what he would be being brought in for with some goals too! Paul Wilkinson ish almost.
I am not writing Marsh off after just this first week of this season. I don't think he is/will be good enough based on all the apps he has made over the years.
