Middlesborough away early 80s in the cup. Mike Lester scored but we lost at Ayresome park. Bus broke down on way home leaving adult supporters on board to try and bump start it. Got home 2.30am

Back from Swansea a few seasons ago in December on a Tuesday night. 2-0 up before some welsh superstar player called Jason Jason popped up with a late couple for the home team.
Driver didn't pre plan for a huge diversion at Birmingham, stopped for an hour at Chesterfield and missed the Barnsley turn! Walked in to the house at ponty at 4:30ish then up for work.

Is that when we got lost at Greenham Common - I recall going round and round the roundabout there? Maybe that`s why we didn't get home til 3am!

Assuming that was after a Saturday afternoon match, that even beats my trip to St. Etienne and back to watch England v Argentina in 1998 - got back to Manchester the afternoon following the game. What a drive that was! Fell asleep at a service station on the M25 - while I was filling up with petrol! Someone woke me up when I hadn't paid and/ or pulled away after 20 minutes.

I know we managed to cross the m1 without noticing, and ended up in Northampton.

On the special back from WHL and the Enfield cup replay in '81. Think it went the East Coast milk train route and took feckin' AGES. Got in around 4am as memory serves and I had a mock A-level that very morning. Aced it, obv....

Playoff final at Wembley. We got back to tarn about 2am. I was at work at 7am. Got the sack for calling a manager a lovely person. Got a new job the next day.
And after Wembley 2008 we stayed down there for the Watford victory, if that counts?
Honorable mention for Huddersfield last season when I decided to walk home. Floated, actually.

Probably the League Cup tie at Liverpool in 1982, I lived in Cambridge at the time and it took forever to get back to Bolton-on-Dearne to drop my dad off due to the fog. I eventually got home at about 2am.

I was at that game, great goal from Mike Lester. Apart from the first 15 minutes when we were a bit overrun, we dominated the game. Me and my dad were in with the home fans and many of them said we were the best team to visit Ayersome Park that season. I think there were about 10,000 Barnsley fans there, a great day out.
