Think he has us and Reading the wrong way round. Also I would be surprised if Peterborough finish as low as 13th. Does anyone have a link to his predictions for last season - just wondering how close he was with those
'right wing-backs Barry Cotter and Corey O’Keeffe aren’t much to write home about' He's spot on about Cotter and O'Keeffe.
I read what he was writing about the other clubs and thought he knew what he was on about. Until it came to Barnsley, really poor analysis of us and throws into doubt everything else that he has written in the article. I think we will be somewhere in the top 10, I wouldn’t like to take a further prediction until after the window closes.
I think O’Keeffe is a standard league 1 RB. Cotter, I think he’s great as a person but needs to improve massively this season I agree. I’m looking forward to seeing Lofthouse as well who I don’t think he mentions in the article.
8th to 10th is pretty much where I assess us to be. Top half but not troubling the top six. Also expect a slowish start so hoping for a bit of patience for Clarke and the regime. If he can improve us defensively that’d be a start - though we need more further up the field than we have. The number of goals he’s lost from the team is massive; if Phillips ends up leaving too (unsubstantiated rumour for now), then we have a drastically reduced goal threat. To be fair we already do. But we will sign someone, I think we’ve seen already that his style is more direct and high pressing - and that approach seems suited to what we have at the club. I can’t see us winning the league of course but I don’t see us flirting with the bottom half either.
I think it's going to be one of those crazy leagues that the Championship used to be like. A lot of teams are around the same level and will take points off each other ensuring a small point spread covering a lot teams. Hopefully - with a little luck and a few more quality signings - we'll get in the mix again.
Hey Sam if we finish 17th or below I will run naked around town. Get your half empty glass ,half full. Norwood signing back on.
Scrolling down that list I honestly thought “has he forgotten we exist?” We certainly still need some improvements to our starting 11 (lwb, striker and probably goalkeeper) but I would say what we have so far should be good enough for at least midtable/pushing top 10. If (when?) we make our signings, we should be well in the playoff mix.
If, by the time the transfer window closes, the squad remains as it is now, or worse, we lose Phillips/Connell, then he may well be right. But I don't believe that will be the case. We'll add to the squad and improve the quality.
My guess for us is around 10th can't blame him with recruitment as it stands alot of work to do in what is now a very short space of time. Clarke saying judge it end of window gives me some hope the dominoes are starting to fall let's hope some fall in our direction.
Even God can't work out where we will finish. But I think we will be in the top half of the table at least.
Strange he hasn't given us any new Manager bounce or any allowance for Houriane and Roberts adding experience on the field. Pines could be full season and as said Lofthouse plus Jalo will be unknown. My guess is between 8th and 10th unless we pull a top notch couple of additional signings or loans. then it could be top 6..
Lets be honest, the lad hasn't got a clue about football. Don't know why people look at him as some football expert. Last year he said in a comment to a Bolton fan what I bookmarked that they were far superior to us and wouldn't worry about playing Barnsley, we then proceeded to batter them at their place and should have really won that game. Also having Bolton 2nd and us 17th is crazy when in reality Bolton have not signed anyone of note yet (probably will do though). As someone else also mentioned Lincoln 6th when they lost there right wing back to Huddersfield and they have no chance of getting Joe Taylor back. Lets wait and see what business is done at the end of the transfer window first and then we can decide.
What a load of old **** !! We will be up there or there abouts! Realistically nobody has any real idea of final positions at this stage, most folk can't even pick them from Christmas onwards!
