Re: yes 30 goals Totally different from Coulson, he was a bairn and hadn't exactly done much at Scarborough before coming, he was just a gamble. No guarantees Gregory will be able to cut it in League One but if you're going to take a punt on a lower league striker then he's one of a very small group that seem worth a shot. If it is true I just hope we haven't paid over the odds for him as it did seem in January that the only reason he didn't leave then was because Halifax were after an unrealistic amount that no one would pay.
If that is true then I reckon us signing him is pie in the sky. All will be revealed in the next few days......one way or another.
I've just had a text from his brother... Had a meeting with Danny Wilson on Monday but now Millwall have come in as well.
Linked with Cardiff,Wigan,Derby and 2 Italian teams only last month.I like the look of this lad.A good age, natural goalscorer 2 footed.I feel £200k could be a wise investment.
Heard nowt but positive noises regarding him in this neck of the woods, so I'd welcome this potential signing with open arms. Fingers crossed and all that.
Depends on who's advising him and what his goals and ambitions are. Football-wise, going pro at somewhere like us could be just right for him to make a name for himself and then get a move to higher level. Going straight into the Championship he might not get a regular game and/or be out of his depth. I'd welcome this type of signing for us, plenty of potential upside - lends a nod to the Sheridan and Bullock type signings in Danny's previous era too. Only note of caution - he's a Blunt!
I'm liking the parallels of next season to Danny's first, what with this potential signing and taking a chance on some of our acadamey lads.
So then, I take it the lad has now gone away on holiday? Is the deal signed and set to be announced on his return in about two weeks? Or is it all a load of cobblers.......
