Article here about him from a couple of days ago. Sorry about the Daily Fail link. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ungest-manager-33-Oldham-one-experienced.html Worth reading, seems he's done a good job on bugger all money
Similar win records to our recent managers but on a much smaller budget. It doesn't matter how many games he has or hasn't been in charge for.
If he were to come I wonder if he would bring that pillock assistant he has at Oldham. I'm not sure who it is but he made a right fool of himself when they were at Oakwell
^^^^^^This^^^^^^ Didn't we just beat Oldham in a game where they didn't have a shot and their manager's only excuse was to blame the pitch?
I don't want Johnson, i'm in Rosler's camp but the amount of games someone has managed is irrelevant, look at Eddie Howe for one example, Mark Warburton another. You could say older managers need to get with the times and they don't move on. If you're good enough, you're old enough.
The problem is you don't know if he's good enough. Plenty of young managers flatter to deceive. Expectations at Oldham aren't the same as Barnsley. He's no pressure on him, same with the players. Fair play to him for their position mind. I've always said with managers is that unless you have a well known proven manager the rest are pot luck.
I wish people would stop going on about the fact Wilson has managed over 1,000 games. Its what you achieve in that timespan and for the main, Wilsons achieved not a lot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Totally underwhelmed if that happened. Couldn't even beat a clueless Barnsley team lacking passion and about to sack their manager.
Maybe Mansford and Cryne are having a few sly bets on the leading runners and then checking out the reaction on here...!
Steve Davis - Took Nantwich Town up two divisions, the highest they've ever been in 130 years of existence. Won the FA Vase at Wembley. He's regarded as their greatest ever manager. He then went to Crewe as assistant to Gudjon (soon replaced by Gradi again). Took over from Dario when he went upstairs. Transformed their season, unbeaten in 19 games (a club record) culminating in a playoff final win at Wembley over Cheltenham. Following season they lost Powell to Man Utd and Westwood to Villa, but still won the Johnstones Paint Trophy at Wembley, 2-0 against Southend. They finished their first season back in League One in 13th position and ended the season picking a team full of academy graduates. Last season they struggled, finished 19th. Whilst all that won't be enough to convince everybody, his CV reads a lot better than Johnson's, and Rosler and Cooper's, to be fair. At 49 years old, he isn't in keeping with the presumed 'young' manager we're after, but he's not exactly an old dog either. His BFC past is a bonus, plus his son Harry is a cracking centre half and at 23 an ideal first signing although he has just signed a new contract. He's got my vote, and I would hope the club have at least thought about him. Wolves nearly appointed him a year or so ago. So aye, I'd be chuffed if he's our man. For those who care, his win % is 38. But that's just at Crewe otherwise it'd be sky high.
Appointing Lee Johnson, Steve Davis and the like is not going to sell season tickets. I believe Uwe Rosler or Nigel Adkins would put bums on seats.
