I've heard she's been through Stocksbridge Park Steels and Wooley Miners Welfare.

Yeah, couple of stories going round one I read from their local rag was the consortium contacted his production company about doing a doc if it went through, others like you say have gone with the headline which does give the impression of he’s going to be involved.

Social enterprise. Community share offer, get the fans involved, coalition with BMBC and a fan-elected director.

But that said, I just can’t see who’s going to come in and give him his money back, or anywhere near it. His share is largely worthless.

Am I missing something? How are the fans going to buy the club when we aren't self sufficient. Patrick cryne used to lend the club money year on year to prop it up wrote off debts. These investors have had to put money in. When **** hits the fan we will be another wigan if fans ever bought it.

I don’t think anyone on this thread has suggested buying the club, have they?

But if fans bought the 30% and **** hit the fan they would have to get some money together?

Not necessarily. Look at how Hearts or 50+ 1 German clubs work. Granted, it demands more self sufficiency, but for me that’s a good thing. That’s how football clubs should run.

That would mean 3000 of us would need to put a grand in each, for example. Probably a few fans with deeper pockets might be willing to put in more, but likewise there will be a lot of people who either can't or won't put a grand into a 3rd division football club, with little chance of ever getting it back.

Portsmouth managed it not that long ago

Under the new ownership structure around 2,000 fans have pledged almost £2m, a significant proportion of which has been placed in Escrow. There are also a number of "presidents", who are wealthy fans who have each invested more than £50,000, raising around £1.5m that is also in Escrow.

It got announced earlier she's split from Matt Healy, but I think one guy is enough for her.

Was £3 million the price of their buyout? I'm not saying it's impossible to raise the amount, but it's not a given we'd get there. There's not a lot of spare money floating round in Barnsley at the best of times, never mind right now.

I'd be up for putting in £1000. It would be worth it just to own 0.001% of BFC! But I couldn't really justify any more.

If fans bought 30% and then the board decide they need to invest 3m to cover wages like last year (they also put in another 3m to resolve the club sale issue), that would mean us 3000 fans that only months ago put in 1k each would then need to put in another 1k or risk losing our percentage share and that pattern could relate until we are promoted.

Now’s not a good time to invest, hats off to whoever buys those shares

I think it was more as someone else put 1.5 million in for some land, have to also bear in mind think it was from the administrators too.

It absolutely is how football clubs should be run but I think there are a lot of Barnsley fans who probably don’t go to games who wouldn’t ever attend if we were in a league position that fan ownership reflected.

Doubt it. Whatever we think of him, it would be distasteful I think for the CEO to tout it as a massive positive and huge club transforming news.

Totally agree. I realise I’m in a very small minority. However there are also plenty of fans who never attend regardless of where we are, but still heavily question and criticise club ownership.

I've thought for a while that I expect to see more ownership from former players. We've now had 30 years of the game creating very rich men who have known nothing but football. Not all who want to stay involved want to be in coaching.

It would be great if someone with deep pockets with a footballing affinity to Barnsley stepped in as an investor. Ashley Ward isn't short of a few bob for example.
