If we were about to start the season with the current squad, I'd agree. But we categorically won't. Plus the current squad would still be comfortably top half.

Don’t you worry about them being integrated too late though? Partnerships needs to be formed.

We've just got hammered (I know a friendly) there's 3 weeks to go. 3 weeks I don't even think we will be top half. There's bigger clubs than us in league 2 we're not too big to go there

Cracking point. We won’t go down in my opinion but people laugh when we say we won’t challenge top six. It’s arrogance. Said earlier we won’t finish much higher than 14th and that’s how it’ll go. The only reason we’ll be that high is due to the fact we have a very good first XI.

Some people need to get their toys back in their prams on here.

Whoever plays, our season will depend on one thing, how good is the new coach.

I agree that defence is the area where partnerships take the longest time to bed in, which is why I'd be very unhappy if we were to sell Kitching. Personally I think £3 million for him if that's what Coventry are willing to pay would be a great deal for us, but not having sold Mads. It would weaken us too much, if only due to the short-term upheaval.

Just waiting for Julie to do another tweet about focusing on the positives, like she did when mentioning losing at Wembley to our biggest rivals, which clearly wasn't a positive.

This is our worst ever defeat in a pre-season friendly apparently. Whatever side of the fence you sit on surely nobody can disagree that there is a hell of a lot of work needed and outcomes to be achieved in the next 7-12 days both on the training field, due to us being effectively 2 plus weeks behind everyone else, and in recruitment, due to us having lost of 7 of our 18 Wembley squad when Collins goes, and having brought in 0 equivalent replacements/improvements, whilst the rest of the league have brought in an average of 5 EPL/EFL players each. All the rest is (increasingly and unnecessarily rancorous - we all want the best for our club, I'm sure) hot air.

I disagree, you can have the best coach in the world but if the players aren't up it, it's irrelevant.

I thought her tweet was really poor. Kind of shows that we are being lead by people who know next to nothing about the game or what it means to the supporters. As far as I’m concerned, Wembley is only a good day if you win. If you lose? It’s the worst place to be in the world. The fact she brought Wembley up as a positive for me was alarming.

I appreciate she’s trying her best to market the club well and drag it into the 21st century off the field but I must admit I don’t see this current crop of owners as the way forward for this football club. Maybe that’s wrong of me to say, but it’s how the feel.

For years we was always told that BFC was an attractive proposition to wanna be owners because we wasn’t in debt, the club lost tiny sums of money compared to other clubs and the cost of the club wasn’t going to bleed a new owner dry. However, it seems we managed to land the biggest cowboys on the planet. We’ve gone from being what seems to be, a decent little project for someone to an absolute car crash.

O take my hate off to those who are remaining positive, but I’m scared to death for next season. I still feel we could find ourselves in a real scrap next year. The off field stuff always spills onto the field and the stands, clearly the behind closed doors stuff is much worse than we realised. We’ve also lost 2 centre backs, both of which was easily in the top 5 defenders in the league. We’ve lost a keeper who not so long ago was playing in the championship play offs and earning rave reviews, we then miss out on our other keeper because he didn’t want to be here if Duff wasn’t the gaffer. You can be as strong as they come at the top of the field, but if you’re broken at the back then you’re in real trouble. Look at Fulham a few years back…. Huge attacking talent at the top but piss weak at the back, they finished rock bottom of the league. I’m not saying we will be relegated, but there’s a very good chance we’ll be closer to the bottom of the league than the top and that’s simply not good enough for us.

My number 1 biggest worry however is the manager, I think we’ve got this one really wrong. What makes me think that? I’m not even entirely sure, it just doesn’t fit right for me, and I understand how mad that sounds when he’s only been in the place for about a week.

Also, there’s a lot of people slating the fans for being negative but you’ve got to understand, they’re extremely concerned. How many times have we been here before? The parallels with the Schopp season are seriously scary. Let’s not forget, that season we lost what? 3 players? We went from 5th to 24th. That’s the difference, that’s all it takes.

We need to get bodies in and fast, because I fear we are in for a real bumpy ride. Call me all you want, but I cannot and will not do another Schopp season. I just haven’t got that in me.

    Spunk on my cap!!!!!!
Last season we were the fourth best team in this division, we really were. And the three better than us went up.
Players in and out is all part of the annual preseason shuffle. Happens every year. We will be contenders this season. Mark my words.

Great post. I get that people don't want to panic at this early stage but i think if alarm bells aren't sounding for you at the moment, then honestly, i'm not sure what would cause them to. The parallels with 2 years ago are extremely alarming.

Yeah we're for some serious dry lovin' this season. The parallel's from 2021/22 are uncanny.

The big problem isn't the 1-9 scoreline against one of our biggest local rivals as bad as that may be even if it was a pre season friendly. The big problem is that once again our preseason appears to be a total shambles.
