    Ok, ive asked the football league but in the mean time i think this is correct(?!)

    The above would apply to Leeds.

    This obviously now would not apply to Leeds, therefore....
    ...comes into play.

    So if the club has finished in a relegation position - before the points deduction has been sanctioned - the club would be relegated first and then have the deduction made at the start of the next season when in the division below. This arguably would not apply to Leeds as they appear to have enough points, or they’ll probably get a few more in order to avoid instant relegation. Therefore:

    If the club is not going to be relegated as a direct result of their original points total then the point deduction will come into play during the current season and the team would be relegated if their new points total (ie after deduction) placed them in a relegation position.

    This means (as far as I can see) that Leeds would in effect be relegated if they had a 10 point deduction and it put them in a relegation position.
