The question is, how far down the list are the club having to go, before they can get a deal over the line? Are we missing out on realistic targets before ending up with second, third or fourth and beyond choice?
Where has the money suddenly appeared from for Styles' new contract? Where have the funds come from for the Phillips transfer? Has the Helik transfer paid for this? Have any funds been used to bridge the financial deficit? Is the club playing Russian roulette turning down a permanent transfer for Styles when he could end up back at the club on higher wages until 2025? Have the owners put their hand in their pockets to bridge the gap financially? These are questions that need answering before the high fiving and comparing us to Sheff Wed and Wycombe.
Who knows, who ever knows. It's not about who we don't sign its about who we do sign. The deadline day deals seem to have come here with ambition and a good level of league one football and above . If we're referring to strikers all I've seen this week is names mentioned on the rumour mill and not one satisfied the scribes on here.I would imagine to sign a striker which got supporter approval we'd have been talking spending between 750 and a million which most people realize we haven't got.
