Yeah, that's why I said Sheffield's is more than double as they have around 550,000.

Whole borough is 200k. Was referring to the town itself which within the boundary is 80k

Thanks though. Yes I did know that.

71,000 estimated (in 2011). Population of Barnsley the town.

The borough is around 200,000. But includes places that are as close to Rotherham/Doncaster/Sheffield/Wakefield as they are to Barnsley. And some of these places are not Barnsley FC supporting territory. Never have been.

If we're comparing fairly, then you have to go on Barnsley the town and Sheffield the city. But this makes a mockery of Wednesday's massive gates theory. Just as it does Leeds etc.

I suppose you could use the borough theory to make Wednesday feel better. But then, the borough of Barnsley recently became a part of the city of Sheffield, didn't it?

if ours are bad what about Donny's

Must be at least twice the size of Barnsley and they've had sub 6 & 7k attendances. Indeed, the only time they pass 10k is if there's a sizeable away following.

Anyone notice Burnley's crowd yesterday, about 11.5k I believe.

No it doesn't. That's the new fangled county borough of Barnsley which includes Hoyland, Penistone, Wombwell and other such West Riding towns which were swallowed up under local government reorganisation. the population of Barnsley the town is 75,000
