"Sorry son, there's no presents this year as it's just a commercial holiday where everyone blows all their money. Saw a cracking goalless draw against Scnuthorpe last week though".

Kids are spoilt these days anyway, it'll do them good.

Christmas doesn't have to be about material gifts, but alas that's all it is these days. It's supposed to be a religious holiday, not a "who can buy the most presents" holiday.

The shops just take advantage. But budgeting does help, if you put money aside for both the football and Christmas. It's not hard.

That's plausible on a reasonable wage. But i suspect that a significant proportion of Barnsley fans aren't on a reasonable wage, judging from the employment and wage stats i saw in a magazine about Yorkshire last week.

If there's a tight limit on disposable income then i suspect that however good your financial planning then at some point it will come down to a direct choice.

Some people save up for Christmas all year round.

£300-400 for a season ticket...that's the home games sorted, isn't there a scheme where the club let you pay off your season ticket in installments?

    not all fans are millionnaires

some have to pick and choose which games to go to otherwise they will end up spending all of their disposable cash watching barnsley and getting nothing in return. the problem is that gordon shepherd seems to share your attitude that fans should pay whatever the club decided and whilst he does nothing will be changed.

I do think the prices are outrageously high, but I won't stop paying them, unfortunately.

    precisely my point

you wont stop paying them and while you do that GS will put them up and up because he knows that people will buy them due to blind loyalty.

unfortunatly (or fortunatly depending on your viewpoint) a lot of fans simply cannot afford the prices at oakwell and so they cant go to all the games. lets hope last nights attendance was a big wake up call to shepherd. if he has any business sense he will announce a 5 quid or even 10 quid game in the very near future. sheff united have already had two games for 10 quid this season.
