I've got no problem with Disco. It is also worth pointing out that he is not a naturally left sided player, so he has done pretty well to force his way back into the team... :)

Well this thread is laughable. Devaney is one of our better consistent performers.

    Aren't most forward players inconsistent?

It doesn't seem all that long ago that the public were clamouring for JCR to be shipped out.

Depending upon your vewipoint, Macken scored 3 goals in 2 games (or 3 goals in eleven games).

    sorry mate

but when Devaney gave the ball away it was straight in front of me and he was fouled at least three times. If he'd gone to ground then we'd have got a foul and the outcome of the game may have changed. I'm not his biggest fan either.

    RE: sorry mate

That's how I saw it. In fact, he WAS knocked to his knees at one point.

IIRC, he made three pretty strong challenges against three different opposition players before he was finally dispossessed.

    Devaney is

Probably the nicest guy in the squad,he is a bit inconsistent and struggles at Championship level to beat his full back, tends to push the ball past and jump on the defenders back pretending hes been impeded, his workrate though probably keeps him in the team, bit of a cult figure now at Oakwell is our Disco, one of the best things I have seen from a Barnsley player was those amazing showboats he did at Walsall when we got to the play offs there must have been 3-4,000 Barnsley fans shouting Disco Disco you had to be there to witness the support sounds stupid but I enjoyed that game that got us into the play offs as much as Cardiff.

    Your talkin' Stupid!

When on form he's probly one of the best wingers in the league.
Even if he is dropped for leon it surely cant be bad to have him on the bench as a impact player.
take note of earlyer in the season when coming off the bench he seem even more of a threat running at tired legs.
He has been a very good player for Barnsley Football Club and long may it continue

    RE: Devaney is

    That was a great atmosphere.
Ok, I'm not saying that Devaney is the best player in the world but he does try things and it's great when they come off. He's forced his way into being a regular when he wasn't being picked at the start of the season. That says alot. He has beaten off competition despite what others have said.

This is a pointless thread. Devaney's a good player, works hard and fully deserves to be in the team.

I think you played in the same BBS team as Simon! Don't think he's being brave, he's talking sense. Devaney works his b*llocks off in games and has improved massively this season. He's scored important goals, provided vital assists, and criticism of his workrate seems a long way wide of the mark. It may be the case that Diego Leon comes into the side and replaces him down the left hand side, but with the way Devaney played from the bench earlier in the season, I'd fully expect him to work hard to get himself back into the team. Good member of our team and squad, who certainly doesn't deserve this criticism.

Somebody said earlier that opposition fans often comment on what a good player he is. I can vouch for that as I have also know away fans say the same things and think that quashes the rather tenuous argument that we should get rid of MD.

The Walsall game at the end was absolutely fantastic. That was just like watching Brazil with Disco's tricks Pele - esque. James G sounds like he probably attends a couple of games a season and sadly the ones where Disco was not at his best.
